Hi! Our GE Spacemaker microwave (JVM241BL) stopped working..... nothing on it works at all. We have checked the breaker box in the basement and made sure it is plugged in. We are assuming it is a fuse somewhere in the microwave but cannot locate it. Does this sound like a fuse problem? If so, how do we get the fuse out?

Turn off the power before starting this process. If the oven is dead, the fuse is probably blown. Remove the two screws that hold the touch pad and control board in place to access the fuse. Once inside, look towards the back and follow the power cord that enters the rear of the microwave to the fuse. It should be a 15 amp ceramic fuse.

SOURCE: GE SpaceMaker Microwave suddenly stops while heating

I had same problem last week. My GE JVM1650 Spacemaker stopped after a few seconds of heating. Owned 16 months, manufactured Jan 2005. It was the magnetron, which was replaced yesterday. The magnetron has a 10-year warranty, but I had to pay $161.00 for labor by a GE technician. The call-out fee was waived at my request. I don't know what that amount would have been, but I can't believe the $161.00 for what was about 1/2 hour labor once diagnosed. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Removal of GE Spacemaker Microwave oven

1. Unplug the microwave. The plug is probably in a receptacle that is in the cabinet above the microwave, or in the wall above the shelf that is above the microwave.

2. Remove the two (or three) screws that go straight down through the bottom of the cabinet, or the shelf, into the top of the microwave. Have help in holding the microwave when you do this, as the front of the microwave will be able to fall down when the screws are removed.

3. Allow the front of the microwave to rotate down a little, then lift the back of the unit up about 1/2" to 1". At this point, the microwave will be disconnected from the mounting plate on the wall, so you can move it forward and carry it away.

Mmmm it's so easy,
First disconect the power, take the cover off, moslitly there would be 5 screws and two tab's on the top.
inside on the right hand side the magnetron it's a sylver box measuring about 4 in x 4 in x 5 in. It will have a plasic cover moslitly that would have to be remove first then on the magnetron there is 4 crews and one connector.
It should fall downard after.
If you have a power supply after the secondary , that may also be your problem.

Regards

Bob

If you look at consumer affairs.com, there are many problems like this with GE microwaves. Not a good track record, experiencing problems with mine as well.

GE Spacemaker Microwave JVM1441 BH04 tripping circuit breaker

your power transformer for the magnetron could have a shorted primary power winding, the door safety interlock switch could be mis-adjusted,this normally blows the internal unit fuse,a shorted high voltage capacitor,or diode,a bare wire inside the unit, more than the microwave on that circuit or a weak circuit breaker in the house power panel

Microwave won't turn on. Seems like it is not getting power. I checked breaker. I am looking for a fuse. You know where one is? It is a GE Spacemaker(2 yrs old) model # JVM1440WH04

  • Make sure that the microwave is plugged into a grounded outlet. It must be a 3-prong outlet.
  • Make sure the clock is set.
  • Check to see if a programming sequence was entered. Sometimes improper programming or a program sequence such as delay start can cause the touch panel to be non-responsive. Unplug microwave or turn off house circuit breaker for 30 seconds. Plug back in, or reset circuit breaker, and try reprogramming unit.
  • Check the house circuit breaker or fuse box. If the microwave is DEAD and there is no display and nothing works- the problem could be a blown fuse or tripped breaker.
