Browser will not launch - Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook

You can set yahoo.com as your home page in your browser by setting it as the default in your browser settings:

For instance, if you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, start up (launch) your IE browser, Click on the "Tools" tab on the far right (top) corner of the page - to see a drop-down window; select/click on "Internet Options" to open up a window. At the top box (General tab) ... you can enter the URL address of the home page ... i.e. www.yahoo.com Then, click Apply ... and OK

From then on, whenever you start up (launch) your IE browser, it will display the www.yahoo.com page.

This can also be done for other (common) browsers, like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, etc. If you are using one of these other browsers and would like specific step-by-step instructions, simply indicate so in your follow-up comments.

There should be something you need to type in the address bar. If that is in question search for the user manual for the router.

1. Firefox
   • 1 Launch your Firefox browser.
     
   • 2 Right-click on a blank area of your browser's search bar. This should cause a menu to pop up.
     
   • 3 Review the menu's list. You will see an item in the list called "Bookmark Toolbar." If it has been accidentally disabled, it will not have a check mark beside it.
     
   • 4 Click the "Bookmark Toolbar" option. This will put a check mark beside it and place it back in your browser's top menu.
     
   Internet Explorer
   • 1 Launch your Internet Explorer browser.
     
   • 2 Right-click on a blank area of your browser's top menu bar. This should cause a menu to pop up.
     
   • 3 Review the menu's list. You will see an item in the list called "Favorites Bar." If it has been accidentally disabled, it will not have a check mark beside it.
     
   • 4 Click the "Favorites Bar" option. This will put a check mark beside it and place it back in your browser's top menu.
     
   Chrome
   • 1 Launch your Chrome browser.
     
   • 2 Click on the little wrench icon in the top right corner of your browser's bar. This will bring up a menu.
     
   • 3 Click "Always show bookmarks bar." This will place it back in your browser's top menu.
     

Shannon, generally opening the same website with a login (like Yahoo or Google) multiple times with the same browser is not possible. Usually the website asks if you want to log the first person out and log back in with the 2nd person's username/password.
There are a couple of possible workarounds that you might try that should work.
1) Launch a 2nd instance of the browser. If you use Internet Explorer for example, double click the icon for it again and launch a 2nd instance of it. Then in that 2nd browser try to log into your own yahoo account. That may 'trick' the site into allowing you to log in that way while keeping his mail logged in using the 1st instance of the same browser.
2) Use a 2nd browser. You could also install Google Chrome, Firefox or some other browser on the same computer. Now, first launch Internet Explorer and have him log into his email. Then launch the 2nd browser product and you log into your own email. This usually works as the browser sessions are separate so the websites 'think' they are coming from different computers and allow multiple logins.

Ist step of any troubleshooting is to launch a spare browser.
Download a new one trial
Make it default here ( Vista HP )
Start > Default program > Set your default program > find your new browser - click on it > OK
Launch new browser - to set sign in cookie- hit this link

sign in - drop "@ yahoo.com" if you have yahoo email address.

Also, You may need to run an error check on your computer.

The setup may be accessing your browser for registration of the product. This could be causing your firewall to stop it as it doesn't recognise the request. You need to allow the programme associated with the product to access the internet.
