If you are saying the clicking continues you must move the burner knob past the LITE position. If it continues clicking with the knob past the LITE position the ignitor switch behind the knob is bad.

Hi, sometimes cooking spills stop the ignitor from working. Clean the cook top thoroughly and try it again. Spills can also make the ignitor go off randomly when you are not operating your cooker. Check if the ignition point where the zap comes from is not turned or bent too far from its original position. If you have a gas shut off make sure it is fully open to supply enough gas. If all else fails buy a cheap hand held ignitor to start your gas stove. If the cause is a spill which sometimes the problem can persist even after cleaning it may take a while for it to work again. If the problem is with all six burners then your ignitor probably needs replacing. When you hear the ignitor zap check to see if the electronic zap appears to jump across to the edge of the burner. If it doesn't it will not light the flame no matter how many times you try. I hope this helps you.
Hello Donna , If by saying "stays lit" ya mean that the flame goes off when turning off the knob yet it continues to spark all the time ?? if yes that's whats happening the flame goes off but it keeps sparking whats wrong it that the switch that turns on the spark when the knob is turned is bad and that is what needs to be replaced. GE only makes that switch available in a complete assembly with all 5 switches and the wiring for it. It's not to bad to replace that actually,what ya would need to do to replace that switch harness asm. ya need to take off the main top which can be done by removing the burner grates and caps from the burners,then is the outer center of each burner will be 2 screws remove those screws from all burners then the all 5 knobs and the top will lift off,that switch harness has keyed plugs and will only fit in one way so its not to bad to replace it. the sparking is one of the switches under the knobs shorted you may be able to open the top and take a switch off 1 at a time and you can figure out what one is shorted.or you can just change all of them. to stop this you may be able to just unplug the cooktop from under the top.if you unplug the cooktop you should be able to light the burners with a match.
On all gas stoves/cooktops, when you switch on one burner to light, all other burner igniters will click at the same time. This is normal. Enjoy your new apartment!

I have a Creda gas stove ,yesterday some water boiled over. I have a continuous spark ever since and the stove is not even on. Is there any way to reslove this without calling a repair person?
