The problem's not what they are saved as, it's your burning software needs to transcopr them into mpeg-2 format so that they burn properly.
There are several dvd burning software programs out there...some very pricy and some are free.
For pricy type I would go with nero 10
For free, I reccomend Free DVD Creater
Whatever program you go with, it must be one that will change the format from whatever it is, to mpeg-2.

I hope this helps.

Have you tried Nero? I want you to use the Power Cinema NE(Editor) its include in this package. Open the video file in the editor(Copy/Edit) Advance feature, you can do some editing if you wish and Produce. It will ask you what format will be the outcome(DVD Mpeg2). Once finished, this file is ready for burning. Burn it in Nero or Roxio as Data file since its already a DVD file. Hope it helps

No disc for my JVC Everio GZ-HD7U

You don't need the disc. Buy Corel's latest videostudio x2 for editing. To extract the video files from camera just plug into computer with USB cable and search the camera for files.
