Yes you can do that but you don't need to replace the DVD Rom. You need 2 tools: PAL-to-NTSC converter box and a voltage converter. Don't know where to buy these though. Sorry.
If you manage to get those tools then you need to refer to a guide. Here's a detailed one from e How: Click here for the guide.
If you can't play NTSC games then that means your xbox is probably a PAL version. There's not really much you can do about this except to buy PAL version games :(
BTW, NTSC and PAL refer to different regions. NTSC Is north america, while PAL is usually europe.
No, the American Ps2 game will not load on Australian one because in Australia the TV system mode is PAL and the in America its NTSC standard. You can't load any game until your Ps2 is modded. You can buy a modulator than can convert PAL to NTSC and vice versa.
It depends on the region, if you got it from the UK it will play PAL games, it's American it'll play NTSC game, there are some games though (Ghostbusters comes to my mind) that work on either though.
Games bought in Ireland are not compatible with your US console. So rather than buying a converter plug, you're better off buying a new Xbox 360 console. (Of course if you have brought games with you from the US these will ONLY work on your US console, meaning you need a plug. You should be able to find a converter in an electronics store.) But do not forget that certain games are region free (meaning any console can play it, regardless of where the console was bought. Just to warn you so you don't buy the same game for both your consoles, when you may not need to. You can find a list of compatible games vs consoles here: Region Free Xbox 360 Games
If you have the original X box CD's it will work fine expect when you have issues with region code.PAL NTSC are the two format a game can work with.so if you have NTSC formated game TRY a PAL version.it may work. else clean your lens and try inserting a new CD of that GAME.
