Press the MENU and MAP during power up with the SD fireware 3.02X inserted. The screen will turn white with the words UPDATING, I have all ready updated my unit a year a ago before the rebooting problem. I just go this problem also i evenually got in to boot after eleven cycles of rebooting. My firmware updates were missing for the bluetooth and O/S. I reinstalled both updates and I still have the same problem. Its odd that everyone is getting this problem around the same time. I think its an intermitenground or resistor that is just from aging. Pioneer want a flat rate of $200.00 for all repairs.

It freezes on the splash screen.

What is the matter with these 'Expert' jerks posting the same stupid solution 'hard reset'. First off, the hard reset instructions are wrong: YOU CANNOT REMOVE THE BATTERY FOR THE 1000 SERIES Nuvi's!. Second, most of these people are telling you that they CAN'T get into the files through USB.

There is a way to get into a 'pre-boot' mode by holding the upper-left of the screen, then plugging into the USB. The PC then does recognize the device as a 'gps' device.
Problem though:
1. It doesn't stay in this mode long enough for WebUpdater to properly re-program the device.
2. One of Garmin's support recommendations was to delete 'GPUPDATE.GSD' from .system (actually they say 'Garmin' folder, but the 1000 series moves these files to .system) but what they fail to realize is that in pre-boot mode, the PC does not see this as a mass storage device.
3. So what we REALLY need is a utility that will let us manipulate the files in pre-boot mode, and the right files (READ: Firmware files) that we can download first then use the utility to install. There is such a utility AND firmware download for the 600 series, but not the 1000 series that I am aware of.

Unit will not boot. Screen reads

"Check serial Input" is just part of the cycle on boot up. It checks for a key press on boot up so that it can access a hidden menu. A cradle, serial null modem cable and hyper-terminal is required to bring up this menu

You can try and re-install the operating system.

Download the latest image from Intermec (you will need to register) and then load the image onto an SD card.

Remove the front cover just above the scan engine; 2 slot head screws and insert the SD card. Cold boot the device. Take off battery and hit the reset button a few times. Re-install battery.

Image will begin to reload.

Detailed instructions are available with the download.

NOTE: The latest image downloads from Intermec not longer have the Telnet application pre-installed. If you require the telnet client then select a previous version, but then also not that there are usually 2 versions EX25 and non-EX25 scan engine type.

AVIC-F700BT won't work after dealer did some work on it

Have you tried updating the firmware? A new version is available from the Pioneer website. You will need a blank, formatted SD card. Unzip the files from the Pioneer download and copy to the SD card. With the key out of the ignition put the SD card into the unit. Put the key in the ignition and turn to position I to turn on the F700BT. The update takes around 10-15 minutes. Ensure that no unnecessary electrical accessories are on in order to save battery life.

If that fails you may wish to check out www.avic411.com.

Msn direct status

try getting the new 2.0 firmware on and put it on a SD card, install the new firmware and then install AVIC feeder on ur computer and change the settings to your likeness and save it on ur SD card. your AVIC will ask you to update aka yes or no and click yes, after the first time it will restart and load again with the same ?, click no and go to MSN direct status. keep in mind that the upgrade must take place in the cradle in a msn direct zone.
