You need good water pressure on hot for these machines to work, gravity fed systems may not be enough. I had to attach a pump to mine to improve the hot water pressure (UK)
Switch over the inlet pipes ie hot to cold and cold to hot and try filling the machine when switched to fill with hot water, (machine will fill will cold). proving the valve is opening and it is a pressure issue on you hot water.

I believe the water temp switch is bad. It will start filling on warm then stop if I put it on hot it will fill with cold water. I have cut the hot water off to achieve this but when it reaches rinse it...

it sounds to me that the hoses are connected to the machine incorrectly. Typically if the plumber ran the water lines behind washer correctly the hot pipe is on the left and the cold pipe is on the right sometimes thats backward and be determined by touching hoses while filling on warm setting and see which hose feels hot. On the back of washer they where they connect hot goes on the bottom and cold on top

Which is hot & cold inlet connection

If you want to connect up a washing machine that uses hot and cold water but you only have a cold water supply (such as in a basement or garage) you can use a Y Piece connector to connect the hot and cold fill hoses to a single cold water supply (external link to 4Washerhelp spares).
The washing machine will then work OK. Simply screw the Y-Piece onto the tap, and then screw the hot and cold fill hoses to the Y-piece and connect the other end of the fill hoses to the washing machine. (You may also be able to buy this part from a DIY store like B&Q)
If you don't connect a water supply to the hot valve (and simply connect the cold water hose to the cold valve leaving the hot valve with nothing connected to it) then some wash programs may not work as some programmes only fill with hot water. However, some washing machines will work OK with only the cold fill hose connected. You can always try it and see. The worse that will happen is the washer could either stick on the odd wash programme or may abort on some. If you do this though it's possible for water to drip out of the hot valve on some machines during fill. It's best to use a y-piece if possible.
The fact that you have connected cold water to the hot valve is irrelevant, the washing machine will not know any different and will just heat the water up to the correct temperature. The washing machine may use slightly more electricity but if it's less than 10 years old it shouldn't be significant unless you use a lot of 60 or 90 degree washes. On 40 degree washes, manufacturers argue it's more efficient to fill with cold water only and slowly heat up the water to 40 degrees.

Cold water fill does it heat to temputure requied?

Hi,

If your washing machine has inlets for both hot and cold water, you should connect both if possible. If you can only connect cold water, the washing machine will still work and heat to the required temperature, but it will need to heat the water in the machine, so the wash cycles will take longer and it will use more energy.

If connecting a hot and cold fill washing machine with cold water only, you will need to connect a Y-Piece for it to work:

belectric_14.jpg
The tail of the "Y" attaches to the cold water valve on your pipework. You then attach both hot and cold water hoses to the branches of the "Y" and connect both hot and cold water hoses to your washing machine.

Please post back if you need further assistance.

Hot water fills very slow(30 MIN OR MORE TO FILL) good water flow from spicket to washer, screens are clear. sewems to be something with the washer its self

Might be a bad inlet valve. To confirm, swap the hot and cold hoses to your washer so that the cold water feeds the hot water connection and the hot water feeds the cold water connection. Turn off both hot and cold water faucets. Set the washer for a warm water wash. Turn on the cold water faucet, and check the flow. Then turn off the cold water faucet, and turn on the hot water faucet and check the flow. If the cold water flow fill slowly, then the problem is with the inlet valve.

It an easy part to obtain from an appliance supply house. To install disconnect the hoses to the back of the machine, and remove the back panel to get access to the valve. Should only take a couple of minutes to remove and install. Hope this helps you.

Maytag Performa wont fill hot water

The water fill valve - The water fill valve is a mechanical and electrical part, the coils on the valve need electricity to mechanically open the valve to allow the water to flow into the washer....myth....the washer pumps water into itself...no, it does not. The fill valve opens and the house water pressure pushes the water into the washing machine.
No cold water or no hot water - The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loose that filling ability. If the cold water coil quits, the hot will still work and during warm fill you will get hot water only and during a cold fill you will get no water at all. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. You can test a fill valve live for 120 volts, power to a fill valve coil and no fill = a bad fill valve. You can also test the coils for continuity, no continuity = a bad fill valve. Some Maytag washers have a fuse in the fill valve circuit, if this fuse let go the washer will not fill. Fill valves can also from time to time stick open and not stop filling. If you have to shut off the fill valves to stop the water from filling in the washer, you have a bad fill valve and you will have to replace it.

Hot point aquarius 1100 - does this have a heating element for cold water feed ? or does is need direct hot water feed ? (there is a inlet at back for both hot and cold so presume no heating element ?)

All Hotpoint washers have heater element regardless of whether they are cold fill only, or hot and cold fill.
if 2 connections at rear, then it is hot and cold fill, if only 1 connection, then it is cold fill only.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

I have the washer on cold water, but it runs warm, stops, trickles, then comes out warm again, stops, trickles, then warm again ect.On the rinse cycle it will only trickle out.

Water fill

if there are 2 hose connections then it is hot and cold fill. if only one hose connection, then connect to cold only.
if two hose connections, then connect at ramdom. put on rinse cycle. if hot water comes in, then connections are the wrong way round and just reverse them
