Get step by step instructions to install Mcafee on your PC
1. Load the software according to manufacturer's directions.

A possibility to consider, with a lot of "if's" involved. If your original product was pre-installed by the manufacturer of your computer, and if you didn't activate your new subscription before uninstalling the old one, see the "Important Note" in the document, which contains the download for the MCPR tool. I question whether the above, would manifest itself, with a "failed" error.

Unable to install Mcafee Security suite (confling software)
Try reinstalling Spybot and then removing it, I had this exact problem once with someone and it was because their uninstall wasnt working right so i reinstalled spybot and then tried removing it again and it worked.
