I have not been able to find the energy consumption of this product but you should be able to follow the steps listed on this site to calculate the number of kilowatt hours that it is using.
Mine is a SUL495 Filter Free unit and worked fine last year and the first couple of days recently, but I'm having the same issue, motor running , no mist, and trying to talk to someone @ in customer service today is a joke, I've cleaned everything but still no luck, I paid $40.00 for this unit in Jan. 2011 and have about two weeks until the warranty runs out, and the other wonderful thing is the nearest service center is about 50 miles away, I may wait until Monady to try to speak to someone, but I probably won't like the answers.
I see you have been waiting on a response for some time and I suggest you contact Sunbeam (if you haven't done it already) at their website for Canada:

The Problem is minerals in the water. Impeller and ultrasonic designs send these minerals into the air. If the water in your area contains a lot of minerals, you will notice them as dust. The EPA does not issue health warnings about minerals in the air, but does recommend using low-mineral water (such as distilled water) in your humidifier. Many ultrasonic models feature a demineralization cartridge that filters minerals out of the water to prevent the dust.
