Hi, im from Kota Kinabalu and have this acer aspire 4315 with NO display (Dimmed display) . It is working fine when i use an external monitor. Fyi, i have a 2 unit used working fine power inverter and lcd screen with cable. I already replace power inverter and lcd but still i got the dimmed display. I also change new ram but problem still same. What else can i do to fix it? Need Help here...

You can eliminate Graphic Adapter. So the things to check are, Monitor, backlighting, inverter, ribbon cable, on the rear of the monitor, pinched wires, on/off switch, that controls the backlighting when the lid is opened or closed. If the laptop seems like it booted up all the way but the screen is black try the steps below.

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barelysee the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can beany kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vgacable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves yourvideo card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you rebootwithout you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN(Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correctkey for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key willnormally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works,then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash lightand nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card isbad.

Sure you can with a standard VGA video cable.

Maybe you will have to change your screen resolution to get the best display layout.

If you are sure that your screen and cable is okay (do you see the same output display on an external monitor?), then you are having a faulty motherboard.

If you are connecting with external monitor, then you have to toggle the display Fn+F5 together, still not getting the display then,

Unplug battery and adapter,
Press and hold the power button for 20 sec
then try to turn on the computer

You've got a loose connection between the laptop and the internal screen. Take the computer to a qualified technician, tell him/her the symptoms, especially the part about the external monitor working fine, and pay the technician to fix it.

Hi, if it works with an external monitor it's more likely an LCD problem. When you push the power button, noting comes up on the main LCD screen? not even the Acer logo etc.?
Did you set your video card to use an external monitor and disabled the primary LCD? If so, you need to go to display settings, advanced and go to ATI Display and make sure that the notebook monitor is on.

Try connecting your laptop to an external monitor.Connect it with a vga cable to your monitor and press Fn+ monitor key(I don't know what it is for acer) to switch displays.If there are no lines on the external monitor then the problem is due to the notebook lcd.If there are lines then it is due to a driver.Reinstalling the driver should fix that then.

Have you tried to disconnect the external monitor and just booting to the laptop? If this works, then use the "e" key next to the power button to add the second monitor.
