I have a Mitsubishi WS-55809 HDTV and I am trying to connect it up to a computer for a media center. I currently have the computer hooked up via component cable in the TVs DTV Input. I am able to display the computer in HD on the TV but I am unable to make the resolution fit onto the TV Screen. I have tried using a number of different resolutions and non fit. The computer uses a adapter out of my NVIDIA graphics card to convert to component. Any help on this would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks!

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WS-65711 green tint only with DVD via Component

there should be a setting in the menu that you need to make sure is set to YpPbPr not RGB if set to RGB it will give you a green pic on the DTV Input.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WS-65807 + PS3 1080i Screen goes blank when bright white displayed

Go to PS3 / Display settings. Set superbright OFF, even if you don't have HDMI. Set Cross Color Reduction to OFF. Set Display to only one resolution, not all of them as you probably have it now. Set it ot the highest possible resolution and uncheck all other boxes. The 480i is always on by default. The issue, which was very annoying, was fixed for me. I have a mitsubishi 65 inch RP that is pretty bright on daytime/sunlight scenes, so I never thought it was the PS3, but only whet the PS3 was used did this occur. I scanned this site via google to find that nobody else appeared to have resolved this. So after some changes and testing this solution worked for me. Enjoy! - Dave Walz

P.S. I think the only real fix was to set just one display resolution, but I am now watching a movie and am not going to stop it to find out. :) That's for whomever follows this posting to find out for themselves. Either way, this is working great.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WS 55711 convergence problem only with some inputs

Projection TV2_bing.gif sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung2_bing.gif, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith2_bing.gif, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D2_bing.gif
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash2_bing.gif focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

Connecting PS3 to Mitsubishi WS-55809

On the back of the TV you should find three sets of the component sockets, only one can produce 1080, the one that is labeled dtv (should be the one on the farthest right of the three sets).

Mitsubishi ws-55809

Looks like you are going to be working with the following:

1080i (HDTV) • 480p (EDTV) • 480i (SDTV)

Hook up depends on what else you have connected to the TV.  If you have nothing connected to the DTV component inputs, I suggest using those, as it will allow up to 1080i.  Otherwise, use the 2 other component connections directly to the left of the DTV connections.

Screen turning pink

If the pink overlay goes away gradually, you could have weak picture tubes (CRT's) If the color jumps in after warming up, it could be a bad solder connection. If you haven't had a good picture to watch for a long time, I would be tempted to put the money towards a new HDTV set as those older Mitsubishi Rear Projection TV's had a Lot of bad solder connections in the past, and by fixing one problem another could crop up in the near future.
