Installed reverse camera to Eonon E1025 unit. Power for the camera was taken from the reverse lights (positive and negative). Video wire from camera was taken back to the E1025 unit. I expected the orange wire (reverse) on the back of the unit was to let the UNIT know when the car was in reverse, thus displaying video from the camera. So I connected the orange wire to the "positive" power wire on the reverse light. The camera output displayed very well when the car was put into reverse, but when the car is taken out of reverse NOTHING ELSE on the unit will work. I tried just grounding the orange wire - the same result was obtained:- good video when in reverse, but nothing (no radio, no GPS etc.) when in any other gear. What have I done wrong?

What wires are positive and ground for reverse lights on a 2003 oldsmobile bravada? Trying to hook up back up camera.

look under the car bonnet and confirm the black negative terminal is connected to the body of the car. Then the wire that lines up to the centre of the reverse globe would have to be positive. There may not be a negative wire on the globe it might use the car body to connect negative. otherwise the wire near the outer edge of the globe is going to be negative.
if no negative wire used then use an earth point on the body of car for camera negative wire.

VW A3 Viewer Request Reverse Light Switch Location A3

You can use the BACK UP SWITCH AS A POWER SOURCE. Locate the back up switch on the tranny. Tap into the wire that becomes "hot" when the tranny is in reverse. Use a multi tester Positive lead in the switch socket, negative lead to ground. The wire you want is the one that has voltage in it when tranny is in reverse, ignition switch has to be on, but DO NOT start car. Use a tap connector and run wire to camera power. Make a ground from camera to any point on the frame of the console. Put a fuse in line in the positive power wire to the camera power input. When you put the car in revese, the camera will come on.

One reverse light mazda

"Life wire??" I don't know what you mean.
Usually, the backup camera will derive its power from the positive lead of your backup lights, so that it only turns on when you're backing up. You can use a standard wire tap to derive positive (+) from either backup light, and use chassis ground for the negative (-) lead of the camera.

Rear camera to show on screen in reverse? panasonic cq-vd7001u

It sounds like you may not have it wired correctly. When the vehicle is reverse the cam works, but when you shift to any other gear IE: park, drive etc you go to black screen as if no signal. I had basically the same problem on my unit, different unit but...on the back of my unit there was a wire, you probably have the same, that said rear cam 12v dc.I assumed this meant any positive wire would do, but this is NOT the case. That wire must be hooked to the 12v positive reverse light. With my cam I had the wires from the cam hooked up, red to positive reverse light wire, black to ground and obviously video wire to the video in on the unit. but the problem arose with that rear cam 12v dc wire on the back of the unit. It NEEDS to be connected to the same 12v dc wire as the cam itself. This acts as a 'switch' when in reverse, IE: the reverse lights come on sending power to the wires to turn on the cam. When you're not in reverse the camera 'switches off' because the lights are not on, thus no power is being sent to the wires, thus returning the unit to its normal operating screen. This worked for me, hope it helps. Good Luck.

The brown wire, safety ground? needs to connected the ground (-ve), or the vechiles chassis, this a saftety circuit so it wont work unless this wire is wired to the negative of the battery.
