A line on an LCD screen can be cause by the screen itself going bad or the T-con board. The T-con board the attached to the screen on the backside and covered by a heatshield. If you get teh part number from it you can find it online from one of the many retails that might have it. Like www.interliquidparts.com

Call Sony my friend. I have the same exact issue with the same model. They already have a recall for the 46"XBR4. Let Sony know that us 52" owners are having the same issue. I'm essentially calling them everyday until they fix it.
I would definetly call Sony and if it is something you can't live with return it, but remember impact damage voids the warranty, in other words if you were to drop the tv trying to return it the warranty is void.
As much as you paid for that tv it should be cosmeticly a functionaly perfect. Let me know if I can provide further assistance and please rate this solution. Lone99star
