New Kohler Memoirs two pc toilet. Four times now, bowl seemingly clogged, water will not flush. Purchased two, another one for our second bath renovation on standby. Did we make a mistake? Thank you! PS: no children, just wife and myself.

Dont answer this but,,,,what are you flushing down it,,,,??? do you have a good flow of water in the flush,,,as it should flush away most normal things and by the way,,,children dont fit down the loo? i tryed that years agow! ooow! check that the out let pipes are clear and free flowing with no lips sticking up into the out let pipes

Ah good one. Mentioned to children in case you thought we had a tricycle down there! Confused by this statement: Check that the outlet pipes are clear and free flowing with no lips sticking up into the outlet pipes. Outlet pipes? Are these in the tank above the bowl? Thanks.

  • Anonymous Nov 28, 2010

if water will not flush away fast it has to be a blocked pipe or back presher in the outlet pipes so check the pipes that go out to the swears if any thing like (a tampon's or lady's thing's in a plastic bag?) or some thing like that got stuck with the end sticking up any thing going down the pipe could rap around it and clog up the flow,, this would cause a back presher and stop water from flowing away fast,, its the only reson the loo wont flush away,,the water is being held back,,,,i found a dead bird (a gull) stuck in an out let pipe once????
hope this has given you some help, mike

Plunger to fit Kohler bowl

So there is pressure when you push, and suction when you pull. Plungers are more effective when pushing water instead of air because water doesn't compress. ... Thrusting the plunger moves column of water like it was a solid piston and applies the entire force of the thrust against the clog.

Memoirs leaking from seal between tank & bowl. Just replaced the gasket and still leaking

In 2008 I bought the Memoirs model that Lowe's was selling. I've had multiple tank/bowl gasket leak problems. When I went to get a replacement gasket this weekend, Kohler had changed the style of the tank/bowl gasket assembly in the current Memoirs model that Lowes sells. I wonder if this is because the old gasket assembly is known to be defective and prone to leaking?

When I called Kohler, it took two customer service associated, but I was granted a WHOLE NEW TOILET with the new style of tank/bowl gasket assembly. I just had to have the receipt for the (3 yrs ago) purchase. Kohler e-mailed a letter for a replacement toilet within about 15 minutes and before the end of the day, I had a whole new toilet in my bathroom.

I'm not a contractor. Just an average homeowner, so I can't say for sure that the old style (large, black, plastic rectangle on the bottom of the tank and a rather thin gasket ring) was defective or not. (At first Kohler offered only a replacement tank, but after hearing the number of times both I *and* plumbers have replaced the gasket, they did authorize the replacement of the entire toilet.)

Our Kohler K3402 suddenly stopped flushing. When you pull the handle and the flapper comes up, all that happens is the tank begins draining into the bowl and the bowl level rises, almost to the rim. The...

If there is a shower in the same bath is it also draining slowly?
If so check that drain systems air vent, (on the roof).
Find the pipe coming out of the roof nearest the bathroom with the problem and when a second person flushes the toilet you should be able to feel
air moving in and out of the pipe with your hand covering the end. If not the vent could be blocked by leaves or animals etc., this vent has to be clear in order for water to drain properly.

Place a few drops of food coloring in the tank of the toilet, if it is leaking you will see the color seep into the toilet bowl within a short period of time. If you see the food color in the toilet bowl you will need to replace the flapper.

Standard toilet will not flush

If this is a new development, then you have a partially clogged drain or maybe a crack in the bowl assembly. If the toilet always did this, then perhaps the drain pipe was not installed correctly.

I would remove the toilet and run a snake through to the main stack. If you find that is clear, check the bowl for cracks and check the tank water level to be sure that the tank is filling to the water line on the tank

Master bath toilet replaced with a Cimmeron class 6 confort height toilet. The master bath toilet backs up to the hall bath toilet - same wall. The hall toilet is very old. When the old toilet is flushed,...

Kohler is correct. The most likely cause of this problem is an obstruction in the common vent stack that both toilets share. When you flush the old toilet it need more air to flush and will get it from the easiest source (your new water saver toilet). First adjust the float level in the old toilet so it won't use as much water or just stick a brick in the tank to take up space.Second, run a snake down the vent stack from the roof to check for obstructions. Birds will sometimes nest in there.

Doesn't flush properly. I have removed from base but can't push

it sounds like you have something stuck in the toilet. What you need to do is try to snake then toilet. You can also remove the toilet and turn it upside down after you remove all the water in the bowl.after you turn it upside down you should be able to see if their is something stuck in the bowl.
