My refrigerator stopped cooling and my freezer stopped freezing but the freezer is still cooling

Same thing with our GE Eterna Series - off and on for the last two weeks. Took back panel off, looked around, vacuumed dust build up off of the fan blades, etc.; everything worked fine for five good days. Then frig went out stopped cooling. Off and on for the last week. Unplugging it works for a day then back to not freezing and or colling.

Last two weeks refrigerator temp goes anywhere from 30-35 degrees and freezer temp -5 to -1 degrees.several times a day we attempt to set temp to reccommended temp, but no success.we do not have mannual,...

fridge temp should be 30 to 35 degrees/freezer -1 to -5 f or between 2 to 5 C for fridge and -18 to -22 C for freezer several times a day is too often...... try once every 2 days without opening door in between checks....

GE Profile - Fridge Doesn't Cool But Freezer Works Fine

Had a similar problem with my Kenwood Fridge Freezer
If you're mechanically minded you could check if there's an opening and motorised flap (usually behind a cover) at the top of the fridge - Cold air from the freezer enters the fridge through this flap) The Sound you heard could have been the motor trying to open / close this flap. This flap can become frozen in the closed position - so cold air is unable to enter the fridge compartment) My fix was to thaw it with a hairdryer and reassemble. Another fix would be to empty the freezer and open the doors - it might take more than 24 hours but once completely defrosted if the flap is the issue it will have defrosted. Once plugged in again the door will open and cold air will start to flow into the fridge compartment. I had a quote for €195 for a call out / repair
I fixed it myself in an hour - Hope it works for you ...

Refrigerator will not defrost or cool

Either your fan is going out or you have a blockage.Replace the fan after you totally defrost it.
Make sure your fan is working ,its located behind the freezers back wall. If it is working the vent from the freezer down to the refrigerator may be blocked. With out a fan you have no circulation but your freezer may look likes its working becuse it is still frozen,it may last 3 days. Also if you can move everything out unplug it turn it off w/ doors open 12 to 24 hrs this will free up any clogged tubes. Good luck.
