Start at http://www.skyandtelescope.com/howto/basics. Go to Yahoo groups. see if thereis one that supports your type of telescope. And of course there's the Dummies books. HTH, Geo.

I have been given an ASPEN 700x60 Refractor Telescope with a box of tubes and two eyepieces but NO INSTRUCTIONS. Could anyone please tell me where I might get a manual for this or general starter book...

This is a very simple refractor style telescope the tubes are the tripod most likely.

Sorry no manuals available for that brand of scope.

Read my TIPS on my profile page and read this:

My friend has the tasco 49 telescope, but unable to view anything- he has no manual for operation please forward installion, and operational manual by email

This is a simple nrefractor telescope. Put the diagonal into the focuser and then put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the diagonal. DO NOT use the 2x barlow if you have one. Practice focusing on a distant object during the day time.

All of Tasco's manuals are on this web site:
http://www.tasco.com/pages/instruction-manuals/

The manual has assembly instructions -- it does NOT tell you HOW to use a telescope to find objects in the night sky. Locate a local Astronomy club and the members will help you.

Please help we have a mars explorer 74/700, very little used and the last time put away, the instructions for setting up appear not to have been included (not by me i might add with my borderline OCD!). ...

I believe this is a Bushnell telescope. All of the Bushnell manuals are on this web site.

Look down the page for your telescope model.

Instructions?

The little tube is the FINDER scope which you line up with the main tube and use to POINT the telescope.

You have a simple refractor. Read these:

I have a vivitar telescope and lost the instructions.

You did not say what model or type of telescope you have-- most of the Vivitars are very simple telescopes --- they all work the same way -- there are two basic types of telescope:

Reflectors -- which use mirrors, and the eyepiece is inserted into the side of the tube

Refractors - these "look" like a telescope-- and use a lens in the front and an eyepiece in the back.

Meade maintains a web site for all of their telescopes. Look here and download one that is similar to your telescope under Refractors or Reflectors.

I need simple set up instructions for australia

All GOTO scopes require a setup routine-- on my ETX 90 I must--

1. Train the drives

2. Set the time and the date, and the observing site in the hand controller

3. Level the tripod and the tube

4. Point the tube NORTH

5. And align and center on two stars BEFORE the telescope will find anything.

Read the manual TWICE--- and then practice inside before you take it outside at night.

PLEASE HELP

Here is a picture of the scope setup--

http://www.shopwiki.com/detail/d=Tasco_Luminova_660_x_60mm_Refractor_Telescope/

Very simple to operate--

Take lens Cap off

Put diagonal into telescope (an "L" shaped component with a small mirror inside)

Put eyepiece into diagonal- use the lowest magnification which is the eyepiece with the LARGEST number written on it.

Go outside during the daytime and practice focusing the telescope on a distant object at least 100 yards away...... tuen the focus knob very slowly.
