2820 error 2

Kevin_Trenow is correct with his solution to the HP colour Laserjet 2820 error code 5 problem - Thank you.

The symptoms are that the machine turns on but after initial movement of the lighted up scanner, there is a disturbing ratcheting noise as if the scanner is trying to move but can't. The machine comes up with error 5 and suggests turning off and on again - this is a waste of time.

1. The top document feeder is released by detaching the multiplug and simply (carefully) removing the whole section.

2. This allows the removal of 8(?) screws from the second layer which contains the glass platform. The screw heads were removed using a star drive, labelled CR-V T10. (Buy Draper 31 piece Precision Screwdriver and Bit set; part no. PSS31)

3. Carefully lever off the grey surround with button labels on it - probably between 6 and 8 clips attach it.

4. Now lift/gently lever off the glass containing layer.

5. Use a spectacle wipe or erquivalent to wipe the glass over the white strip (This is the problem - the scanner light needs feedback from the white strip to end up in the correct position - the 'ratcheting noise is caused as the stepper motor continually moves the head to find the feedback point)
NB. The glass above the white strip will look perfectly clean - looks can deceive!

6. Replace the glass containing layer, ensuring it is clipped in - don't screw up yet in case more cleaning is required

7. Turn on and the scanner light should end up in the required position.

8. Replace screws, replace lid, push on grey panel and you should have a fully working machine for the price of a spectacle wipe.

I have a hp color laserjet 2820, it says "replace supplies" and "device busy" . It was working fine yesterday and now won't print.

The replace supplies means that something has either reached end of life or has failed and needs to be replaced. Device busy usually indicates that there is a print job queued in the printer that needs to print, but the supplies out is stopping that from happening. Clearing the print queue on your computer and then restarting your printer might clear the device busy error, but the supplies error will likely require replacement of something.

Scanner error 5 in hp m1522nf

its a very common error in this printer. The error its usually in the step motor that moves the escaner. Its the same motor used in other printers such as 3052, 3055, 2820, 2840. Or you can buy it in any electronic house just looking at the code

I have an HP Laserjet 2820 which had a paper jam.  I cleared it and have reset it and it still says there's a jam.  Any advice?

Have you looked in the rear of the printer at the FUSER unit? Flip the blue levers and the fuser will come out.

I have an Intellifax 2820 and there is an error message of paper jam inside... I have cleaned all paper out of machine... please help me

A jam sensor may be stuck by a paper scrap. Try manually pushing a sheet of paper through the machine IN THE DIRECTION IT IS NORMALLY FED. This may force out any stuck scraps. The jam sensors are usually located where the paper feeds and where it exits the machine. Also, make sure ALL ACCESS PANELS YOU OPENED TO CLEAR JAMS ARE CLOSED PROPERLY. Otherwise, the jam code will not clear.

Brother 2820 Says clear scanner jam and press stop

Make sure there is nothing caught where the documents go it. List up the scanner cover and look inside. It may need a separator pad or clean the feed rollers with some alcohol. Lawrence
