Bose acousticmass 15 sub-woofer making a noise

Recently my house experienced an electrical surge during a thunderstorm. The sub-woofer powers on, but just makes a constant thumping noise. I replaced the fuse, but it makes the same noise. I was wondering if it is blown or if this problem sounds familiar and do you think it's repairable? I figured the sub-woofer has some kind of chip in it since the other speakers won't work without the sub and it just needs to be replaced.

The sub contains the amp for the other speakers. But it sounds like the amp has a seriously damaged section and will probably have to be serviced by Bose.

Hi,sorry but you can not connect it directly like other sub-woofers..
Bose 2683 Powered Subwoofer is part of Bose Lifestyle 5 system, Please note that you will need the 5-pin DIN cable that connects the subwoofer to the base or "Music Center". and the 4 pronged connections for its own stereo speaker output not input from another stereo..
Sorry....but if you can arrange some handy man nearby ,he may get into the DIN cable to locate the subwoofer signal 2x input leads than you can use that leads for connecting into single sub woofer out let of your system...otherwise try to sell BOSE which can easily buy brand new up to date powered sub..

My Bose Acousticmass 15 sub has stopped working. I have tried unplugging it but that has no effect. When I turn the switch "on" I get nothing (but the sub still passes sound to the cubes). Any ideas? Can I...

If you know the sub has no power (tried new outlet or tested the current) the fuze may have been blown. The problem is that it could be more than the fuze in this case. Also the fuze is not easily replaceable in these bass modules. I'd call Bose tech/repair support to see what they offer for repair options. (they're actually pretty reasonable considering the cost of their products)

Sub woofer making a screaching loud noise when powered on

The pop from other electrical items makes me think it's a ground problem but I am do not have a clue as to what type of setup you are running over there. Did you try a surge protector? Is it 110volts with a seperate ground wire?
Have you tried running a UPS?
