Did this thing, not working. I have a 40" sony

In this configration you will not get surround sound. Because tv is not able to reproduse the surround sound through its out put from the HDMI input. You have to connect the HDMI of PS3 to the Onkyo receiver and the HDMI Monitor Out of the Onkyo to the TV. This can only done if the Onkyo AVR Have HDMI IN/OUT option.

If not the connect the Optical out of PS3 to any one of the optical input of the Onkyo receiver.
After that you have to goto the setup Menu the Onkyo and assing the optical input in wich you have conncted the PS3.

Aslo the following setting in PS3

Menu>>> Settings >>> Sound Settings >>> Audio Output Settings >>> Select the connector..= DIGITAL OUTPUT (OPTICAL)

Check your audio output setting of tv,
nd enable aux out on.

You will have to set the resolution of the TV to equal the PS3 or it won't work.

The problem is with the HDMI daughterboard in the AVR is bad. This is a well documented issue on this interweb! A general search in google can confirm. Here are some stuff cut and pasted frm their site and another forum. *** I took mine to a service repair place today, the guy said that he had two that he just fixes yesterday. He said that this issue has given him a ton of work. Just make sure that you have your receipt from AN UNAUTHORIZED DEALER and that your still under warranty. Receivers 2 years Parts & Labor

check that you have the wires on the inputt on the rca or av

Hi...the HT-R800 Home Theater system has the HT-R550 receiver which could only carry Video via HDMI. you would need to connect a separate audio cale(Optical Audio Cable) to be able to get audio out of the PS3 to the receiver. Once you have hooked up an Optical Audio Cable you would need to go in the PS3 setup and putin Bitstream and Optical in the Audio Setup menu.

i have sony bravia. i couldn't connect to my ps3 with hdmi cable. but i get only audio. i think it is with the tv settings. can you help

I have looked up the infomation on your TV I noticed that your TV has two HDMI input plugs. Since your SONY BRAVIA is hooked up to one port, you need to buy another HDMI cable for your PS3. On your tv remote you should have an option to switch from video 1 to video 2 so then you can switch from the SONY BRAVIA to the PS3 the problem is you will only hear your PS3 Sound from you TV. If you want to hear your PS3 sound from your SONY BRAVIA you need to buy an optical cable (also called TOSLINK) to connect from your PS3 to the SONY BRAVIA.

You should get a good surge protector. Sometimes some areas have a spike in the power. That will cause interference in the TV signal coming from your PS 3. Try out different surge protectors that should solve your problem.
