I have a Visio 47 in LCD HDTV Model GV471 FHD that just went dark in the middle of a show we were watching. The remote has no control but does light up all buttons then goes off with no function. I unplugged it then plugges it in and the orange visio logo was on. When I pushed the power button the visio turns white but the entire row of function buttons lights orange and won't go out. No picture no Sound no Nothing. I then have to unplug to turn off. I could use any insights.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

SOURCE: Directv Tivo recorder no remote programming code for Visio 37''

If it were a Tivo series 3 you might have better luck with it.

http://www.tivo.com/setupandsupport/technicalsupport/compatibilityhelp/Using_the_Learning_Feature_of_the_TiVo_Glo_or_Series3_Remote.html

I've had my series 2 Tivo for about 2 1/2 years and never found the correct codes for it. I think it works off of a list of TVs manufactures about 3 years ago.

SOURCE: How to clean the screen of our 42

Vizio TVs come with a cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. If you don't have that anymore, any lint-free cloth should do. If any smears are stubborn, dampen the cloth, then wipe clean.

Never use household cleaning solutions on your screen. Some chemicals can damage plastic.

SOURCE: 47" two yr old Visio

This is the second time I have seen this problem this week. Seems like a common issue on Vizio LCDs. Anyways the problem you mentioned indicates that the tv-micro IC has failed. THis is located on the main audo/video board and a component level repair is not possible in this case. The main A/V board has to be replaced and it should cost you around 100-125$. Would you like to do it yourself?

I have a 37" visio TV (just got it home). How do I program with AT&T uverse remote?

Do all your programming with the original remote & then set the ATT umiversal remote to turn the set on/off & it should do most of the features of the original. Some stuff can only be done with the oem remote. Read the book & good luck!! tvman

Hi, I am thinking of buying a used Visio L32 at a really great price.

I have never heard of pressure point lines. This particular model of Visio has a lot of problems wih the lcd panel and the lcd control module. Major problems and major expense. In my opinion a very low quality product and I will never purchase a Visio.
