The Kenmore Elite HE4 Gas Dryer that we have will not turn on. All of the front panel lights will light up, but the when I press any mode on the start button, wWe get a series of three rapid beeps and nothing happens.
I have unplugged the cord but after the PF flashes I get the same results, three quit beeps when ever I press the start button and I have to press the cancel button to get to a new start mode.
Can I replace the control pannel if I have to do it myself?

FWIW ... the Sears guy came by yesterday. The problem was apparently that the door latch was not operating to the extent that the sensors thought the door was open. He is replacing the latch next week. He adjusted the old one in the mean tiome and it appears to be working fine.
This kind of stunned me, since my wife reported an electric zap and the interior light burned out as the dryer went dead -- so I was sure it would be a fried circuit board -- but, no, a little jiggling of the latch seemed to clear it up....
Give it try, leave it on for a couple of day, sometimes the brain of the dryer can manage adjust it, I am not sure but maybe you can try.

I have exactly the same HE4 problem described by brianjp. Help. I want to exhaust any self-help alternatives before turning to Sears Service. The unit is 28 months old -- out of warranty ....
When I push the normal or anyother button to start my machine the light light up but they blink. When I hit start it gives me 3 rapid beefs and NOTHING???
I have the same problem although my dryer is electric. When I opened the dryer to remove a blanket there was a bright flash of light and the bulb burned out. I cannot get the dryer to work since. I get the same rapid 3 beeps described and really don't want to have to call for service as my warranty is up. I bought a new bulb in hopes that would correct the problem even though I didn't think it would. It didn't. I don't understand what to do with the latch if that is the problem . Please advise. Thanks!
LIght bulb stopped working and a few days later, the same problem described happened, the threee beeps when start panel is pressed but dryer does not do anything else.

I just replaced the Thermister as it was always turning off. While I had it all apart, I sucked out about 1/2 a vacuum canister of lint all in the underside. Put it all back together and got 'PF'. Unplugged, hit 'cancel'. Now drum light always on and wont start. Do I need a new door/light switch now?
