Question about JVC Everio GZ-HD7 Camcorder
Hi my screen says video management file is broken reset required. I pressed the button and an hour glass rotates and it says reset complete but then it keeps on doing this and will not let me record. I can view through the screen but am unable to record it simply ignores any further commands. I can take still images but no video.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Me too! I bought my JVC HD7 in February, 2008 and have only recorded about ten hours with it, all easy light-use stuff. When I allow it to repair the video file, it says it IS repaired, but ALL of my footage is lost. For almost $1000, a camcorder which "may or may not" make my footage available after shooting it is nothing more than an expensive paperweight. It isn't worth shooting a goldfish in a tank! I
Apparently the firmware on the camera is very finicky especially if you do any deleting/renaming of movie files via windows and the USB (rather than using the camera's menu interface). My suggestion (worked for me anyway) connect via USB, explore the JVC HD, find your videos, save them on to your computer (drag and drop, or edit copy, etc) then once you've accomplished that, go into the camera's menu, then settings, find the option to FORMAT HD, do it.
This fixed my dilemma, hope it helps others out there.

I just read on a review site that this camera shuts down in loud situations. I tried to use it mounted to my harley and am getting that error as well,I'm going to try turning off the mike(since the sound will have to be redubbeb anyway. I'll let you know..

Reformat your JVC camcorder, and reformat file system as well!! ONLY format with the camera.. NEVER format with your PC!

Broken file warning comes out for several reasons, 2 known reason i knew,1.) you accidentally removed power while recording, 2.) Your HDD has problem, format or clean up can help, worst thing you need to repair for some damaged clusters, windows HDD tools can sometimes fixed this or else use HDD repairing software such as Hi-Test. Hope this helps

I also had the problem and talked with the jvc support, they told me not to do any things like ..if u connect the camera to computer and disconnect without proper closing, drop the camera.never change the folder name directly in camera which i did, delete the folders directly from usb ,or computer.do it through the camera menu.\
What I did after I also had this problem and mine even didnot come on after i start recovery. The camera had battery too,so he asked me to connect the adobter while I do this then the screen came on with that recovery message.after I pressed ok it took me almost 10 mins and then everything was fine.....

I suggest you to backup all the songs in the Walkman Player to the Computer and Format the Player.
Connect the Player to the Computer to charge it until FULL message is displayed.
Reset the Walkman Player. To reset it by pressing the RESET button with a small pin or similar object. You can also Format the Player if the Format option is available by accessing the Home Menu.
To Format the Player; press and hold the BACK/HOME button, select Settings-->Common Settings-->Format-->YES.
WARNING: There is a risk of data loss. If the memory is formatted, all files including the Operation Guide (If applicable to your model) stored in the player will be deleted. Be sure to verify the files stored in memory prior to formatting and export necessary files to the hard disk of your computer or other device.
Once the Format completes, reset the Player by pressing the Reset button located at the bottom of the Player using a sharp pointed object. Now you can transfer the required songs and files to the Player using the supplied Software or by dragging and dropping the songs through Windows Explorer. This will resolve the issue.
