you simply go to this site , select the OS you use and download the drivers for the printer, save on your desktop. make sure the printer is disconnected from your computer . install the drivers after they are downloaded and follow instructions-- very qick and easy
You need to uninstall your printer, then reinstall the newer version of software (can be gotten at the HP site). I just did it and now my scanner works.
Can you print from it? It sounds like you just need to install the software that came with it, it has all the drivers you need or go to hp website and download the newest drivers. Update your drivers and then it will recognize it.
