It should be under the hood. The spark plug wires goes to towers on distributor cap. I don't know litre size of engine?

alternator maybe, the starter creates the current to start the car the alternator keeps the current it can also ruin the starter and the battery ask autozone

black smoke is unburnt fuel, If tune up is recent? look towards fuel regulator

yes i did it the other way around 2.0 to a 1.8 the 2.0 was a non turbo idk if the turbo transmissions are the same

on the black plastic cover that you take off over the timing belt there is a design to help you align it

Possibly bad vehicle speed sensor causing problem

You'll need to look under your vehicle and along side the transmission you should see it. If you don't know what you are looking for as far as a description then you can Google "eagle talon starter" and find a picture on one of the offered matches.

well first off i would just remove the belt that drives the turbo and get the proper belt for the motor without the turbo for now and look into aftermaket turbos

Could be your ignition switch.
