The 1300 prints spot colors the same way as the other ALPS printers. To print spot colors, create a mask or layer using only black with your artwork. Select the spot color you want and the black areas on the mask will be printed in the spot color. Make sure that you check the overlay box so the printer retains the printer. You also need to make sure you are using the ALPS printer driver supplied with the printer and NOT the default Windows plug and play driver.

My problem is in my Alps MD 1300. Two layers of white print without problems, but when I print CMYK over white horizontal lines appear about ruining my work. I use "white Based (MDC-OPWH)"...

The MDC-OPWH is Opaque White. It's meant to be used as an overcoat when making things like Iron-On transfers when they are applied on dark backgrounds. Regular white is used for undercoating for things like waterslide decals.

Alps 1300 equivalent

No not for the average consumer/hobbyist for printing white and metallics with an overlay options. There are a lot of options if you are looking for photo quality printers.

I want to print metallic gold and gold-foil TITLES on a standard CMYK background with an Alps 5000P. What is the procedure to overlay the spot color where I want to print the gold?

Create a mask or layer for each spot color you want to print using only black. When printing spot colors anything on the mask in black will be printed in the spot color. For foils, print a couple of layers of black ink before you print the foil to get a very good effect. Remember to check the overlay option so the paper doesn't get ejected.

White ink printing with alps MD 5000

To print white, you need to use the spot color option in the printer properties. The object to be printed must be all black. It seems counter to what you might think, but the spot color mode will print the solid black areas as the selected spot color.

How do I print using the foil ribbons? I do not see Gold foil as a color choice.I am interested in any info from a manual on this subject of gold or silver foil ribbon printing.

Your ALPS MD-5000 MUST be set to print in DYE-SUB. mode.... Is there a Memory upgrade plugged into the slot next to the Printer Port? If not, then it's not an option......

Lines through my md 1300 alps printer

It sounds like the head has been damaged. Unfortunately, there is no fix for this, as Alps stopped production of these printers years ago, and now do not offer repairs for these printers.

If you still want a dye-sub capable Alps printer, the only model available is the MD-5500, which you can find here: http://www.alps-supplies.com

Alps md 1300 only prints in black

First of all, Alps MD inks do not "Dry up". They are dry to start with!

It sounds like you may be running XP, with the Microsoft driver for this printer installed. You need to load the Alps driver, which you can get by joining the alps or alpsdecal group at http://groups.yahoo.com. You can find the driver in the files section of one of the groups.
