Hello,
If the operation system detects and mic and when Skype doesn't its possible the wrong input device
is selected in Skype settings. So do the following to make sure the right input device is selected.

1) Start Skype
2) Select OPTIONS from TOOL menu from Skype main window.
3) Select AUDIO SETTINGS from the left panel and check which device is selected for Microphone. If
you are not sure which one you need to set,try selecting the available devices from the drop down
menu one by one and see if you can make a Skype call successfully.Hope it helped.

I have an HP Pavillion dv2700 laptop with windows Vista. My mic was working fin until a few weeks ago, now no one can hear me on google voice or skype. I checked the mic settings and it is not muted and...

You can try going into device manager and find the device and remove it then reboot and let it reinstall the mic drivers. If that does not work try going to the HP site and see if a new driver is available and install it. The mic could have gone bad and you may have to buy an external mic.

Hello, I have install W7 system on my ,,acer 5620" and then microphone has stop to work. What I should do. Thank you for unswer so much. Arvid.

Unfortunately, you are not alone - and it's something to do with Windows 7 not your microphone. My dual booted Acer Extensa 5620z has the same problem on the Windows 7 side of the dual boot. Webcam and mic work fine in Skype on the Vista side of the dual boot, but the mic doesn't work in the Windows 7 side. I teach computer classes for a very large computer club here in Florida, so I consulted with our techies - same problem with the Windows 7 laptop we have at the club - and no one seems to be able to figure it out.

Hi. Try to check the settings of your skype account especially for the microphone. You may try using other microphones also just to check if the port is working or the mic that you are currently using is working also.

Mic not working on Acer 4315 laptop using windows 7 OS

With Skype for it to work properly & every time you really should get a USB Headset. or Mic, That is Skype capable. A small outlay will get a real great result. Because even if you do get your Mic to work, it is never work as good and often echo's a lot,

I am new to Skype and have registered . I have a Webcam - Microsoft Life Cam VX-3000- and cannot get any sound , using the test facility . Any ideas ? Everything else seems to be working and I have checked...

If you have a laptop it will have a built-in Mic
If you have a webcam with a built in Mic you now have 2 on your computer and you are going to have to determine which one to use (make it 'default')
I would recommend using the webcam mic as default.
You do not say what your pc or OS is so here is the setup for
Laptop x Vista
Set up Audio

Laptop x webcam/mic x Vista

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
Set required mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click OK
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

Configure to Skype

If you have an earlier OS than Vista you may have to access your hardware from the Control Panel

Skype Test Call

Hello, No the Linksys router should not have anything to do with your Skype services. Try the following:

1. Use a different microsphone other than the one you are using now. The mic test in windows is not always reliable.

2. Follow the Skype instructions for test calls not working.

3. Check you sound setting in control panel.
