For some reason my Wacom tablet pen has stopped making the mouse pointer move - everything else seems okay. I have an Intuos3 - Windows Vista and it all used to work fine but I notice it just doesn't switch automatically from mouse mode to pen mode (pointer moves fine with the Intuos mouse).
I had the same problem with my Intuos3 on Vista. Tech support suggested the following.
Do this.....Go to Start--->control panel---->system(in classic view)---->device manager--->click on "human interface devices"--->then click on "Wacom virtual HID driver" and right click on that and disable it. Your computer will ask you to restart and you will want to do that.
Everything works fine now.
After a lot of reading and testing I decided it looked like a driver problem as everything else seemed to be working. I had uninstalled my current driver and installed the latest one on the website without any improvement, so I hunted on the Wacom support site and found a new one, and tried that. I installed it on top of the newest one - not uninstalling again. It worked.
To be honest I don't really know what I did - this new driver was somewhere on the Wacom site but when I looked again to try and identify it I couldn't seem to find it. The driver's name is 'Wacom Tablet_608-4a.exe'. The latest driver for my tablet (Intuos3) is 'pro605-7_int.exe'
But at present the pen moves the mouse again - which is great.

The winning answer came courtesy of Mr Benedikt Schmitt of Wacom Europe, who offered the following solution: from the Windows Device Manager, disable the “Wacom Virtual Hid Driver” device. (Go to Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Device Manager, find the driver, right-click it and choose “Disable”.) One reboot later (welcome to Windows-land, circa 2008?), everything works as desired. Pressure and tilt sensitivity inside Photoshop still work, and the pen functions just fine in the rest of the Windows desktop. The absolute mapping makes it an absolute pleasure to point quickly and precisely. It makes my laser mouse feel rather clumsy navigating a large 24′ screen!

Pen worked great on new Vista computer then quit working on anything but my Paint Shop Pro Program. It was completely disabled to use like a mouse as I did before. Now, it won't work on my Paint program either but the mouse will. I recently updated the Vista drivers.
