I did Ford radio warranty work for 15 years and I never saw a factory Ford radio use a code .However if this unit came from the "euro"line of fords yo mite need a security pin that goes in the front of the radio or the pin has popped out. The only other thing that comes to mind is that your radio is not a true factory radio.

When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio.
