Cant record vocals while listening to beat without the beat being recorded twice

I used to hook up an analog mixer to my computer and i could listen to the beat in my headphones and record to cool edit, now that i got this it records the beat while i do the vocals so its overlapping the beat twice. is there anyway i can get it to not record the beat while i record the vocals?

    YES! I am having this same problem. When recording into my computer through the usb port I can't listen to the other tracks without the multimix recording it in addition to the vocals.

    So when trying to just record the vocals it records anything being monitored (through the multimix), going into or coming out of the multimix.

I have the same probelm as da 1st guy,, when i record my vocals some how da beat sneaks into da mic too and fuccs it up.. seriously its ****

Sounds like you may be recording electrical interference from another electrical source as well while trying to record your vocals. Try unplugging other electrical devices that are in the area of your recording equipment, then try recording again. If that doesn't work, move your recording equipment to another location and try to record again.

Background noise on vocal track
There is no doubt that sound on PCs and laptops can be a pain, and I have had to run a mixer output through the mic socket before now, such is the insensitivity of the PC's inputs. But you have done this, which implies that the mic input is not being connected to the sound system. You should have some controls of the way the sound is connected - try the Control Panel (assuming you have Windows) and opening up the sound applet. You won't get anything through Audacity etc., until the system is delivering. Sorry I can't be more specific.

the pink one is the mic/line input, you will need a mixer to plug in all your various instruments. If you use a mixer you will be able to put all the vocals on one side (left) and the instruments on the (right) side, in essence having two channels. later when you mix the channesl in your software you will be able to raise and lower the vocals, or the insturments so one is is not too much louder than the other. If you have other questions about this, I'll be glad to respond.. I own a recording studio and do record into my computer, although not using the sound card.

I have a st69 and every time I record, the vocals while recording sound very chorus like in the headphones, but they sound fine when I listen to the play back, please help.
Check the mixer settings to be sure you are not sending multiple mixes or effects to the monitor (headphone) output. The output used for recording does not necessarily have the identical sound sources and mixing path as the headphone, so make sure the headphone is monitoring the same signal as the recording output.

When u export the track down too a wav.form and i convert it too mp3. if i listen too it in headphones i can only hear the vocals in the right earbud.
Well, did you run the vocals through a mixer and send to BOTH channels of the Lexicon Alpha? If you connect the mic to only one channel you will only get one channel UNLESS you process the .wav file and PAN the vocal channel into both channels when outputing to your MP3.

It is probably a hard to find record electronics problem and possible that the record bias is staying on partially. This will erase partially the audio and apply the clicks. You are going to need a good Technician for this. Try this guy- I have confidence in him.

How to connect mixer an amp to laptop?
How is everything hooked up?

Mic to Mixer, and Mixer to Laptop? Or is your mic connected directly to your laptop?

To do this properly, you will need a secondary audio input device of some kind that accepts line level input. Microphone inputs are intended for low level signals, and are not going to accept the input form a mixer properly. (you can get it to work, but it will generally be distorted)

There are various USB or PCMCIA audio input card options that aren't too expensive. Once you have that, you would need to route your music and microphone through your mixer, and the output of the mixer to your audio input device.
