I have a UBC72XLT scanner which I sometimes use with a external roof mounted antenna. Recently while connecting this antenna to the scanner there was a static discharge. The performance is now way down so obviously some damage was caused. Question: Is there anywhere I can send the scanner to be checked out & possibly repaired ?

You can contact the Uniden customer service department via email by following this link:

But the cost of repair will likely exceed the value of your scanner. I routinely see used and refurbished BC72XLT scanners for sale on eBay in the $50 range.

I cannot get any tv stations from service search

i'm guessing you hooked up an inside rabbit-ear style antennae?

move it around

then do an auto scan again

it all varies upon your location of that antenna

sometimes an amplified antenna helps a bit as well to draw in those digital signals to your tv tuner card that is built-in on that flat screen TV

other times, in other areas, you'll probably have to get an external antenna mounted to the roof of your house or a tall metal pole that can be moved towards those signals

fiberglass,no ground plane. Did you use the meters on the radios to match your antennas or a seperate external antenna.you might have to run your own coax and hook up a mirror mount bracket and put your favorite antennas on them then match them and ground them to the chassis use common sense to show you what to do next and you should be getting out great. Sometimes people change the antennas on those trucks with built in antennas and don't realize that the coax has just fallen out of site into the body somewhere. thats why I said install your own.

I have a unidenbc72xlt scanner--I live in a rural area and reception is terrible. when i get to city(about 25 miles away) it works good but at home is terrible--any solutions

Your ONLY solution is an external antenna. The best scanner is only as good as the antenna that feeds it. A discone would be the best, but a less-costly vertical would probably do a good job for you. The least costly, and least effective solution would be an indoor antenna - the ones enclosed in PVC pipe do a fair job. If you can't mount the antenna on your roof, a balcony or an attic will usually work fine. As a last resort, you can always set up a vertical inside a closet. eBay is a good source for scanner antennas, and you might also try www.ScannerMaster.com.

How do i install a cb radio on a pick up truck

You will need a CB radio antenna, The CB radio and mounting hardware as well as the power wire.

Choose a place to mount the radio. Mount it. Run the power wires from the radio to the fuse box. Put red wire in with the fuse that is hooked to switched 12 volt. Ground the black wire to any metal of the vehicle.

Next find a place to mount the antenna. If you use a mag mount, the roof of the cab is a best bet. Run the wire into the vehicle, it can go through the door, just make sure its not going to get pinched.

Hook the coax from the antenna to the radio

Now you have to tune the antenna. this is important because if you don't you you will blow the transmit final transistor out in the radio.

This link will take you to an article that will explain how to tune your antenna.

I have a 03 f 250 superduty v 10 i would like to know how to know where to drill hole in roof and how to run coax wire to cb

all vehicles normally have spot at the dome lights. to put cb/ham/commercial antennas. but some ford trucks have a center rib on the roof which sometimes would have to off-center an antenna. on newer trucks. I would use the ham NMO mount that has the 3/8" hole (not3/4") and use a wilson 1000-5000. or tram base load antenna.. depending on power wattage needed. we normally carry the 3/8" mounts they have coax and pl259 connector on them. look us up. lowest prices guaranteed.

Uniden UBC72XLT scanner problem.

The cheapest solution would be to directly program the frequencies that are available in your area, usually this is public information with the exception of high security channels, you can call each location and ask them what frequency they broadcast

How do I see the rest of this solution? Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS Receiver Problem: Garmin Nuvi GPS won't acquire satellites Solution by: wingflinger (1 solutions) There is a known hardware bug in the...

you should see it now
There is a known hardware bug in the Garmin 600 series relating to the detection of the connection of an external antenna. The GPS is supposed to do this automatically and when it detects an external antenna plugged in it switches out the internal antenna. Unfortunately, this circuitry doesn't work correctly in some versions of the unit and sometimes it get's comfused and thinks there is an external antenna connected when there is not. This causes the behavior you describe because, for all practical purposes, there is no antenna connected.

Garmin can fix this and they've been known to fix it even on units that are out of warranty. There is a fix that can be done by someone with the right equipment and know-how which requires disassembling the unit and bypassing the antenna switch. Not to be attempted by anyone not experienced in micro surface mount PCB re-work.
