Toner Not Installed - After replace black

After replacing the Black toner cartridge in the Konica Minolta magicolor 2530 the printer flashed up not genuine toner cartridge, then displayed Yellow not installed , Cyan not installed, Magneta not installed.... it thinks that no toners are installed. As it said the black was not a genuine cartridge i put the previous empty black back in.
The printer still displays that the color toners are not installed. It will not rotate the toners (only when you slect replace a toner) otherwise on its own they rotate, it doesnt say black isn't genuine anymore but still won't let you print. And says the toners are not installed, but they havn't been moved. The colors are full.

This is actually a desigbn fault on the magicolor printers. Underneath the toner rack is the 3 pin chip reader - normally white and plastic with 3 metal contacts sticking out.

it is at the bottom of the printer so very often toner drops onto it and the sensors dont work, it also takes a bit of a beating as the cartridges rotate. Its very easy to replace - but you need the part,

Minolta should have put it at the top rather than the bottow where it gets covered in dust.

these guys helped me a lot

Pleas clean toner chip reader, remove pc drum and all toners, under the toner rack there is a 3 pin chip reader, use pressure air to clean it. if the new BK toner is not original, it will say only not genuine toner but will print.

In fact from the menu (I have magicolor 2530 which is a new declination of 2400W) I was not able to remove all cartridges: after having one taken the printer does not want to rotate anymore to access others. I made them rotate manually pushing vigourously the rotating system but I believe it is not a good solution. After that I could access the sensor and clean it and it works. I discovered a better solution: After removing the drum, without removing the cartridges the sensor is half vesible: we see on the right just beneath the cartridges a white plastic square and we jave just to intruduce a little brush or a bit of paper towel folded in four over it to clean it. I have a line running through my pictures. it doesn't matter what picture i print, i get the line

Well, there's bad news and then there's worse. Hope for the laser lens. Hope it's not the drum. By the book:

Abnormal
areas (white,
black, or
color) appear
in a regular
pattern.
The laser lens is dirty. Clean the laser lens.
A toner cartridge may
be defective.
Remove the toner cartridges with the
color causing the abnormal image.
Replace it with a new toner cartridge.
The drum cartridge is
defective.
Remove the drum cartridge and check
for damage. If it is damaged, replace it.

Toner problems with Konica Minolta 2450

very annoying message i agree - most likely caused by toner dust.

The printer uses a carousel to rotate the toner cartridges. Dust and toner can easily spill as the cartridges rotate. The error can appear at any time but seems to be most annoying after a paper jam or other error. It is also important to make sure that the cartridges themselves are clear of toner dust. Pay particulair attention to any copper contacts on the cartridge.

After replacing black toner cartridge printer displays Drum Low

The drum and the black printer cartridge are two separate items. You will have to purchase a new drum for it. I just had to do the same thing and it ran me $150.00 at Staples.

Magicolor 2400W error

This happens to me every few months, I have to do a VERY detailed cleaning of all toner sensors. The knowledgebase on KM's website is actually very good about walking you through which sensors to clean and pictures indicating where they are located. This has fixed me up every time. GOOD LUCK!

Drum cartridge

just open cover turn the toner rack if needed and replace the toner.
in right there is a black button, what is pushed down with the cover, you can push it down with pen or something, then the rack rotates easy. be sure to turn off the printer first
