Data Recovery for Windows
Data Recovery for Mac

Well, formatting (quick format or full format) won't be necessary to erase the data permanently until they are OVERWRITTEN by new data, which means if you continue taking more photos or saving more data to your formatted SD.

First things first: DO NOT take any more pictures or videos to the camera that you want to recover files from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of photo recovery.

Then connect the device to your computer and have a try of Digital Photo Recovery, a program which can recover pictures, videos can music files deleted or lost easily. If you are running a machine with Mac OS X, go to Photo Recovery for Mac

You should remember - the more you use your the device, the less likely you may be able to recover the images back! So STOP using the SD card as soon as possible. Best regards

First of all, you should stop saving any new files to your memory card.

Then find some photo recovery software from the following websites, which are able to recover deleted or formatted photos and movies from cell phone, digital camera, memory card and SD card etc.

Digital Photo Recovery for Windows

Digital Photo Recovery for Mac OS X

Here are the steps:

Step 1: Download and install the Digital Photo Recovery Software.

Step 2: Connect your memory card to your PC or Mac.

Step 3: Scan the source drive where your lost pictures located.

Step 4: Recover the lost pictures and save them to another drive instead of the source drive.

Best regards!

Format your Micro SD card? Want to restore all your lost photos?
Don't worry! As long as you take the right steps, you do have chances to get all your data back:
Step1. Stop using this SD card in case that any new file would rewrite your original data.
Step2. Insert this Micro SD card to your computer.
Step3. Download a data recovery freeware to your computer and start to retrieve all your lost data back:
http://www.4cardrecovery.com/
In fact, this freeware has ever successfully saved all the inaccessible data of my friend off from his SanDisk memory card. So, I believe it can also work successfully on your card, too.
Read more information of this freeware here:
http://sd-card-format-recovery.blogspot.com/2013/11/recover-sd-card-after-formatting.html
Step4. Save and back up all the restored data on a different memory card or drive in case of data recovery failure.

Do you want to recover your photos off from a formatted memory card?
As I know, the formatting process cannot completely erase everything on a memory card, especially as you are doing quick format. The inner contained data are still on this memory card and only becomes invisible and inaccessible.
Therefore, if you really want to get back all your lost photos back, you'd better apply a memory card data recovery freeware before all your photos are overwritten by new files on the same memory card.
This memory card data recovery freeware has helped many people retrieve their lost/inaccessible data back from a drive or card. It is really worth a shot!

Deleting or formatting won't make the data in memory card erased permanently.

Those deleted data is still stored on the memory card, it's just invisible or inaccessible. Only the FAT or NFTS table is erased (the information about where those data were saved), but the real data are still intact there in sectors of memory card.

So as long as those data are not overwritten by new data, it's highly possible to recover them. And the MOST Effective way is to rely on some format recovery programs.

Try this data recovery program, which can recover data after deeply scanning your memory card to look for lost data you accidentally deleted or formatted.

Can photos be retrieved once the SD card has been formatted? i had selected the "protect option" & those photos still were deleted.

I had success with this
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download photo recovery software, recommended one is 001 picture recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)
http://www.001-software.com/picture-recovery/
4. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted photos.

You can recover photos after memory card from with asoftech photo recovery. I used the program before, you can download trial for free.

Please be noted that your phone memory should show as a drive letter in your explorer, if not, you need to take out your memory card and connect using a card reader, or plug-in to card reader slot if there's any on your computer.

Memory card error

If you get a message on your camera such as "Memory Card Error" AND there are no photos that you want still on the card, the first step is to format the card through the camera menu (Note: if you have an xD card, once you re-format your card any photos cannot be recovered.). Read your camera manual to see how to format your memory card. If this does not help, try another memory card (say the small 16/32mb card that came in the box with the camera). If this card does not display a "memory card error", then the other card is at fault.

If you do have valuable photos on the card, then DO NOTHING (do NOT format the card, do NOT take any more photos). You need to undertake a photo recovery. For options on Photo Recovery, click here. Once you have recovered your photos and archived them, then reformat the memory card through the camera as outlined above.
