Hello, My LOEWE CAL 232 will not power up. When the power button is pressed, the monitor turns on, with the LOEWE on the monitor, then the TV continues with the previous activity (antenna, DVD, VCR etc.). Now all that happens is 1. the red light comes on 2.after about 1 second the green light turns on for about 12 seconds 3. the the green light turns off for about 1 second 4. then the green light turns on again for about 12 seconds and this continues until the power button is pressed to turn the TV off. During this time, the monitor does not turn on and the only sound I hear seems to eminate from the power button. Any thoughts?

I repaired a lot of these sets when they were new and under warranty.
The most likely reason for 'shutdown" which is what you are describing, is one of two parts.
The "Flyback" or High voltage transformer in these sets fails; usually with back off when you try to turn set on you see a little arc at top of high voltage transformer---means it is bad-----so common I have literally replaced dozens of them.
The second common (not as common as the transformer) reason is there are a number of special capacitors right around the same area as the transformer; they do not short or burn---they open like the filament in a old style light bulb----a little tricky to find but not expensive.
The Flyback transformer is black with a large red wire coming out of the top that goes into the picture tube; part may be found on internet for approx 50 dollars or Loewe parts center for 75 plus.
Everything about these sets was expensive; I still have 3 brand new remotes for them--wholesale on them about 85 dollars.
