My laars Lite 2 was running fine but when checking the pilot had gone out and now can not re-light. The pilot lights but when I release the white button it goes out. Any ideas please
I am having the same problem. The heater was working fine and then one day when I turned off my pump to clean the screen, the heater did not fire up when ai turned the pump back on. I checked the pilot light and found it not lit. I have tried lighting it several times but everytime I release the control valve knob the pilot light goes out. I am wondering how you check the thermocouple to know if it is working properly.I am having the same problem. I have a similar problem. I have a spark, but my pilot light will not ignite at all. And I don't smell any gas. Anybody have a guess as to whether this is the gas valve or the thermocouple? the pilot would lite first time but burner would not kick in on recomendation from jandy engineer i changed the water pump now using a marlow itt 1hp, after fitting the burner kicked in for approx 3 mins now i have no pilot and no main burner, i have had this unit for 1 month from new and it has worked for approx 3 minutes i could heat more water with a candle, stay away from Jandy. the pilot would lite first time but burner would not kick in on recomendation from jandy engineer i changed the water pump now using a marlow itt 1hp, after fitting the burner kicked in for approx 3 mins now i have no pilot and no main burner, i have had this unit for 1 month from new and it has worked for approx 3 minutes i could heat more water with a candle, stay away from Jandy.

If you have not found the problem yeat, it IS the thermocoupling( or pilot generator(same thing))
You may test by placing a multimeter on the red and white leads coming to the gas valve. you do not need to disconnect the leads first but you can

It sounds like a thermocouple has gone bad. this is a very common problem with gas powered things ie; water heaters, furnaces, hot tubs. The telltale sign is when you release the pilot light button it won't stay lit. This is a safety feature and is relatively inexpensive and easy to repair.
it might be the hot surface ignitor. a common problem with gas furnaces also. also, check if there is an code on your screen. it will be called an FL code. call the manufacturer.
