Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 23, 2010

My Dell inspiron 6000 laptop stopped working. It shut off while I was online and when I try to restart it goes to the very first screen (black, says dell in blue letters) then the whole screen goes blank and stays that way. I left for an hour and came back and the screen was still black. I have held the power button down until it restarts and that didn't work, I have pressed ctrl+alt+del and that didn't do anything either. I have also run a diagnostics test and everything passed. I have run out of things to try. Can you help me?

If the Dell Diagnostics passes then the issue is in the software part of the computer.. You may have to reinstall the OS inorder to address this issue.. Dell has a default partition on the computer and you can install with the same..
If you have windows vista on the computer then tap F8 when the computer turns on and then you will be able to see the advanced boot options.. Select repair my computer.. In the repair my computer screen select the dell factory image restore...
Your computer will go through the installation and it will be up and running...
If you have windows Xp then you have to turn on the computer and when the dell logo appears you have to simultaneously press control and the F11key.. You will be able to reinstall the OS in this way..

If this option is not available then reinstall using the disc The issue will be fixed

Maybe the OS of your Notebook was corrupted. The best solution for that is to reinstall the OS to run normally. If you have know how to install the OS (Operating System) like Windows XP reinstall it. But if did not you just bring it to the nearest computer service center for the proper installion of the OS.

Screen on Dell Inspiron 6000 turned sideways. How

Power off the laptop.
Power it on and tap F2 at the Dell logo. check if the screen is sidways in the BIOS or not. If it looks normal in the BIOS restart the computer and go to control panel and uninstall the Video drivers. Restart the computer. It will boot up with basic drivers. Install the video drivers and the issue should be fixed.
If the display is side ways even in the BIOS try a BIOS update from support.dell.com and if you dont have an update reflash the BIOS with teh version availbale on the website.
