Not sure what cord you replaced, but the problem is generally caused by the heater's circuit failing or the heating element itself has failed. This is a common problem with 98% of all electric fireplaces. If I recall correctly, the Heat Surge has a one year warranty. If yours falls into that one year time line and you still have your proof of purchase, file a warranty claim with the manufacturer.
