I unscrewed the top, and sides-the back panels-and vacuumed out all the dust just yesterday. It is recommended in the manual to do so. Top has 3 screws. Sides have 2 screws, one is on the top and one on the side near the front. The screw on the top is in an indent. Its not the two bigger screws. Turn off your heater and let it cool first. There are hot parts in there.
Looks like a heat problem to me. Do you think you could try to blow out the dust, using a bellow like used on a photo camera. Or just canned air (spray can)
There must be enough holes on the outside, to blow in, and dust has to come oput. So the best would be you disconnect teh box for a little while and doe the dusting outside.
I\'m a trchnician and if one of my boxes has dust I open it. But be aware you loose your waranty and unscrewing the wrong screws, dound damege the box. So if you are not a tech, please try to get out the dust by blowing. NOT yourself, bacause you bring in other things like spit. and we don\'t want that.
All its a matter of screws.Just unscrew them and you will be on the rocks. If no screws maybe the speakers are factory sealed or use another mechanism to open like "ears and grooves".
You need to unscrew the four long screws in the base - to get at them you must first pull out the four plastic 'plugs' that cover them. It's easy, I just did it! There are no wires to worry about as just the clear cover lifts off, so you can dust/clean inside...
yes there are 7 screws
2 on top
1 on bottom
2 the back right side
2 under thebattery
NOTE:to take the last screw out it voids the warenty if any
all you need to do is unscrew those screw your goning to nee a pretty small screwdriver or a thin flat head small screwdriver. one those are out (remember to keep them togetther and to remember where they basically go) the front cover should just pop right off
This problem comes from the control switches on the front panel. I had the same problem and fixed it by opening the monitor (unscrew 3 screws on the back side, remove plastic shape of the stand, unscrew 5 screws of the stand and open the back; unscrew the 2 screws of the button switch panel). Now inject contact spray on every switch button. If the problem remains you may have to replace the button swithces. Thats all!
2. Get a duster air can to spray off the dust. (make sure you don't spray to much they might have gas in them.)
3. Take a two sided Q tip or one sided doesn't matter and dip the cotton sides into rubbing alcohol and careful clean of the lens do not scratch it or you ruin your PS2.
4. Take all peices that you might have moved and put the exactly in place.
5. Put cover on.
6. Screw the screws back in (P.S. do not use a electric powered screw driver use a hand held one.)
7. Turn on and test it if it has problems like heating up dust out the fan on the back.
8. Enjoy. <(^ . ^)>
And, if you have a small PS2 even thought they are junk just dust out the fan open the part that you put the disc in and dust arond the lens and inside and then just clean the lens with the Q tip and alcohol.
turn your ps2 over and tae out all the tabs underneath them are screwz unscrew them then open up your ps2 and unscrew the screws inside an you mighte fund dirty stuff like dust hair just get a cotton bud and clean the dust just pull the hair out and youll find some stuff on the fan just pull them and give it a couple of blows and some dirt that dosent come of wipe of with a clean cotton bud if this dosent work go to youtube.com and type in ps2 fixers safe yeh
You will have to open up the unit by unscrewing the screws at the bottom and taking off the top cover of your PB6100.
Right behind the lens is the Lightengine ( where the dust collects )
Take off the cover of the Lightengine by unscrewing the two screws at the top of it . Then blow out the inside of the light engine with Air in a can ( available from most good PC shops )
and then reassemble.
If the dust particles still show after this ( which I doubt it will ) then you will have to take it to a Service Centre to get cleaned out as you will not be able to reassemble the lens once taken apart - it is a HUGE job !
You should not open them at all. No need for that. Just remove front cover, gently clean the parts beneath it with magic cloth and make sure not to press membrane. All that can be inside the box is some harmless dust and that can be vacuumed out trough the bass aperture but make sure to put vacuum cleaner on lowest suction. If covers are very dirty and made of plastic or metal you can wash them manually with dish detergent in warm water.
