When i switch on my nikon d40 an error message "Error. Press shutter release button again" appears on the lcd. even after pressing the shutter, it does not get to display any picture. kindly help
The camera was working great (no drops or mistreatment) and then the "error, push shutter release button again" came up on the screen this morning (after I'd already been using it). The shutter release sounds like there's something wrong and I can't get the camera to work at all. The folks at Ritz said I need to send it in to Nikon.

Try to change battery. After you left the camera for sometime , it freezes.
I removed my lens and put it back on making sure that the aperture ring was set properly, that did it. The second time, I locked the aperture ring back in to its proper place and it worked fine.
I just hit the bottom softly with my palm until it made a noise like the shutter was readjusting and now works with no problems!
That may be the best advice :
