Are you turning it towards you or away? If, you are turning it away from you, you will mess up your timing, so never do that. Always turn it towards you.

Singer 7469 error 88

It generally indicates that something is preventing the machine from going through its default sequence when you turn it on. That could indicate a snapped belt or one out of place, thread tangled around the inside of the hand wheel, thread wrapped around or near the tension disks, OR it could indicate that something is still on that shouldn't be one--for instance, if you have to do two things on the machine to get a buttonhole, say, a lever and a dial, only one is on, etc.

The first step is to go to your user's manual (you can download it free at the Singer site if you don't have one), and do each step to set it up, making sure you have done it correctly, and making sure things like the bobbin winder are not half on and half off.

Hand piece is very tight to turn and unable to use the machine

Make sure to clean/remove all the lint, thread, dust, etc. that may have built up in the bobbin area, around the feed dogs, and under the needle plate. Sometimes gunk build-up will prevent the hand wheel from turning. Remove the bobbin & bobbin case from the machine and the needle and see if the hand wheel will turn. If not, then it may be time for service.

How to deactivate the safety device on the Singer Futura SES 1000 embroidery machine? How can I get the hand wheel to turn again to get the machine to sew/embroider?

You can't--something is stopping the wheel from turning, and until you find out what is stopping it, your machine will be locked up. Take a look below the bobbin case, and you'll see a ***** holding a little door. It allows you to clean and see on the other side of the bobbin basket. Chances are, there's something like a broken off needle stopping the gear that turns the hook. It can also be caused by threads wrapped around the tension disks, or around the inside of the hand wheel itself. The hand wheel can be removed by removing the cap in the center--it is hiding a ***** that holds the wheel.

Machine runs, then slows down, then stops, will start again but acts as if it is jammed with thread but does not have thread caught any where.

threads and fluff get jammed around the rotating shafts and act as a brake to moving parts
Take the machine in for a service

How do I wind the bobbin?

There are several ways. On most machines you put the empty bobbin on the spine over the bulk of the machine on the right hand side. Twist some threads around the bobbin to get started, then put the thread through the thread loop above the shuttle area on your left side. That keeps the tread tension right. There is a gear the clicks into the bobbin. You push that closed. You will have to release the clutch by turning the large wheel on your right hand side. Not hard to find and it usually is hand size. It is the one that goes around and around when you are sewing. Grasp it firmly and turn the top toward you. This will prevent the needle from going up and down when the thread is pulled onto the bobbin. Don't forget to tighten the large "wheel" when you are done.

Brother sewing machine cs6000 hand wheel hard to turn by hand

before you race the machine into a service centre, most hard to turn problems are from thread and fluff wound around the bobbin shaft in the base of the machine. Use a pin/ needle to remove the thread /fluff then oil the machine using light machine oil. If it is still stiff , take it to a service centre.

Hand wheel turns half way and won't go any further, nothing appears to be hitting anything

Did you do a thorough oiing "inside" the machine--like take the bottom or back off, hand rotate the handwheel and apply a drop of "fresh, good quality serger oil" every place where metal rubs against metal?

Black bobbin case

If this is the machine I think it is the bobbin case is completely round as opposed to half round. If it is half round ignore the following.
Remove the presser foot and then the two screws which hold the needle plate. Lift off the needle plate and then lift out the old bobbin case. Clean all the lint out and then insert the bobbin case so that the less round part of it is to the back and the lip around the bobbin case is resting on the lip around the hook. Turn the hand wheel a few times to be sure it is working smoothly and not binding. Replace the Needle plate , bobbin and presser foot. Insert a new needle, thread the machine, Check your tension to be sure it is working correctly, turn the hand wheel again to be sure it is picking up the thread without binding and sew.
