your puk code will have come with your sim card.
if you have lost it then, you will need to contact your service provider(orange,tesco,e.t.c.). there is no alternative way to get this code

The PUK code is used to unblock your PIN code.

Tesco mobile uses the O2 network masts. The command to view on screen balance for O2 pay & go is *#10# (press call). I would expect it would work as its same network? Hope that helps?
