If the local screen is pink, but the external is not.
then the local screen is bad.
as most are this old. (i just changed one out)

but no photos posted of your internal screen failing OP?

so answers will be wrong. lacking that key fact.
on all DV with those funky CCFL tubes turn yellow. all do.

but that is on white screens, lamps bad. (the ***** rattle)
but on other screens sure pinkish possible !
so run notepad, is that pink? well if yes, its not the silly back ground images of the desktop or any screen savers.
all CCFL go bad, and fast.
NO OS stated so>>>>?XP?

SOURCE: HP Laptop sound and power button trouble

Dear LaxDude,

It seems that the problem lies in a type of cable called a ZIF connector. There are two of these cables attached to two different boards on the laptop. The first is attached to the power board, and the second is attached to a board that controls the LED touch keys. The ZIF is essentially a small ribbon cable. The problem arises when the cable weakens and breaks due to repeated flexing (pressing of the power button). What ended up happening to my laptop was quite simple actually. My friend and I replaced the broken ZIF cable with other ZIF from the LED touch pad, since I don't use them that much. And voila the problem was solved, both speakers work now and so does the power button. This will do for me right now until I find out where to get a new ZIF cable.

To open up your laptop:
Step -1:
Un-plug the laptop and remove the battery

Step -2:
Flip the laptop over so the area where of the battery compartment is facing up.
Remove the three Phillips PM2.5X5.0 screws at the back of the of the battery compartment to remove the switch cover.

Step -3:
Flip the laptop over again and open the laptop as far as it will go. Remove the switch cover by pulling up from the back of the cover.(The switch cover is the piece with the speaker mesh)

Step -4:
Unplug the first ZIF connector to which the LED board is connected.
Remove the four Phillips PM2.5X7.0 screws which connect the keyboard to the laptop.

Step -5:
Remove the keyboard and rest it over the mouse pad.
Then remove the small circuit board from the switch cover.

Step -6:
Remove the ZIF cable from the power board and replace it. either you can find a new ZIF cable or you can swap it for the other one. Be advised that if you swap the cables you will lose the the ability to use the touch keys.

To put everything back together just follow the steps in reverse order.
It is kind of to explain and to take apart a laptop without pictures. But I will just give you the information and you can decide if you want to take the risk.

Best of luck I hope it works,
DarranK

You don´t have to replace it. Just cut about 1,5 - 2 cm off the end (that´s where mine was broken) and scrape the tracks free with a knife. Then but a small batch of tape behind the end so it will be held in the socket. That´s it, a 10 min fix.

Pink picture dynex tv fix

This is most likely the cable you have connected. I would try that first. If that doesn't work try connection your laptop to another TV. If the new TV gives you the same problem it might be a problem with your graphics card.

White color in LCD monitor appears as pink anywhere ! but sometimes it back to white color truely.

Hi,

This can be a common problem with laptop screen when white goes pink. This is caused by a faulty cable that runs from the laptop motherboard to the inverter just under the screen.

The cable becomes stretched after a while by movement of the laptop lid which pulls a pin from the cable.

What i suggest you do is take the laptop to PC repair store and have them fit a new video cable or order a replacement video cable from eBay and replace the cable yourself.

Don't be fooled by the preconception that its a bad CCFL bulb (backlight) as this is not the case.

Screen is disclored.Shows pink instead of white.

Possible bad connection on the LCD cable. Check and reseat the cable on both end( the cable to the laptop and the cable to the LCD panel). If that doesn't work you will need to replace the cable.

My screen light just turned off, but i can barely see my desktop and the taskbar. what happened?

sounds like either the ccfl tube died or your inverter died, a easy way to test this is to take a old working laptop, remove the screen bezel on both laptops and dissconnect the plug leading to the screen (usally a pink and white wire cable and connect the cable from the hp to the inverter on the old laptop, power on both laptops and if the hp screen lights up then the inverter on your hp is dead, this is not uncommon on laptops and if you ever get a new laptop try to get one with led backlight technology, if the inverter from the old laptop has the same plugs, put it into the hp, otherwise order a new on

Hp dv4000 screen turned pink now black

If its not the backlight inverter or cable. It will be the LCD screen itself. It seems the shop you took it to isn't really up on laptop repair, as this is a common issue I see often. Get on Ebay and find a screen for your model and replace it. I asure you this will fix your problem.

Pink screen

Dear LT user,

Your LT has one of the following 2 problems: Your LCD cable might be faulty OR your inverter board is malfunctioning.

The LCD cable is responsible for transfering "color information" or "screen data" from the motherboard to your screen. If this cable is faulty or malfunctions, it can result in a lot of appearances - in your case a pink screen.

The Inverter board is repsonsible for the "light" on your screen. If the inverter board is faulty or does not function properly, you might experience this issue.

If your LT is still under waranty, you can give it in @ the nearst HP Warany centre for repairs. If not ; HP parts are very expensive.

What you can also do, you could install an external monitor (LCD flatscreen) to your LT. Because the Flatscreen cable connects to your VGA port at the back of your LT, using an 15 pin blue connector , it connects directly to the Mainboard so it does not run over the LCD cable and thus will be a unit on its own.

Kind Regards,
Stef
