Mitsubishi WD52725 DLP

Hi!, I my Mitsubishi WD52725 has a solid Red status light. after turning the unit. The error code I get is 44. I have check the DVI cable, and it appears to be securely connected on both sides. Could you please provide assistance on how to troubleshoot?

Thanks

    The DVI Cable has been changed to a working cable (I validated this with my computer). Do you have any other suggestions? I am afraid that it is a light engine failure. Is there any checks I can do to confirm whether the light engine is still working or not?

  • fprihoda Jun 21, 2008

    I have the service manual, but from what I see, it only discusses how to change parts out. I have some of the wiring diagrams, but I don't know what voltages need to be verified. If you know the voltages to be verified could you please post.

    I am hoping this isn't a light engine and would really like to make sure.

    Is there a way to test the light engine independent of the TV itself?

Your DVI Cable may be defective as a 44 code is DVI cable

    You would have to trouble shoot it with the service manual. If all the votages are correct and its not working then you can assume the light engine, but you will need to verify the voltages first as the light engine is exspensive.

3. Error Code Operational Check

Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down" and not have been switched Off, to perform the Error Code Operational

Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to "12" No Error.

Pressing the front panel "DEVICE" and "MENU" buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds,

activates the Error Code Mode. The LED flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem

has occured since the last Initalization.

Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

Example: If the Error Code is "23", the LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash three times.

TV turned off by itself one day. I pressed reset, timer light blinked green for a minute, then I pressed power and it sounded like it wanted to boot up, but nothing happened and the status light turn

Two thoughts:

First is this is a DLP set and the lamp may have failed

Second is it should have the self check which reads error codes---most of these sets that is the same:

" After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
(then release both)

The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.
Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
This is for a earlier Mitsubishi DLP but should be the same as your set as Mitsubishi rarely changes things like this.
If you get the lamp abnormal it is likely your problem.

The power light is solid red with no light on the status. I took out the bulb and put it back in now I have a solid red on the power and a solid yellow on the status. There is also no sounds coming from...

steady red with yellow/orange status light indicates that the temperature is too high, so by the sounds of it your device has malfunctioned, you need to get a repair on this

see page 44 here

STATUS LIGHT SOLID RED ON 73 DLP MITSU MODEL WD73735

The colorwheel is your problem. To confirm this, unplug the tv, then listen thru the air vents in the back as you plug the tv in. You will probably hear a ticking sound. If you do, that is the colrwheel. If the colrwheel is working, youwill be able to hear it "spin up". It will be a sudden high pitch whine. Let me know if I can be of further assistance

Hi troylove

the dvi cable could be bad in the set or needs to be sited. or one of the boards the dvi connects to. ( would bet it will be the DM board in the Chassis) it will need to be sent off for repair if it is the chassis.
