Trying to hook up a pilot light switch to a gfi recp not having much luck with getting it to work properly i got 2 conductors from the panel and 2 conductors going to the gfi recp and on the switch i have silver terminal,brass and ground on one side and 2 black on the other side what is the proper connections to make here

It is unclear what pilot-light-switch is supposed to turn on-and-off.

Option A) pilot-light-switch is going to turn GFCI on-and-off
Option B) pilot-light-switch is getting power from existing GFCI circuit, and switch controls another Load (light, fan or motor) located elsewhere.

Bare copper wire always connects to green screw.

1) I have a Cooper pilot-light-switch in my office.
Black Hot wire from breaker always connects to dark-colored screw(s).
White Neutral wire from breaker box connects to silver-colored screw
Wire going to Load (light, fan, motor) connects to brass colored screw.

2) Two things happen when pilot-light-switch turns ON:
a) Pilot light turns on. This circuit is powered by black Hot wire, and circuit is complete with white Neutral.
b) Brass screw that had no power, is now powered.

The GFCI:
Hot from breaker always connects to brass-colored Line screw
Neutral from breaker connects to silver-colored screw that is opposite Line screw.
If other switches and plugs are going to be protected by GFCI, they connect to brass Load screw and to silver screw that is opposite Load screw

Option A) You want pilot-light-switch to turn on GFCI receptacle.
a) Wire pilot-light-switch as described above
b) Black wire from GFCI line-screw connects to brass screw on pilot-light-switch.
c) White wire from GFCI silver-screw-opposite-line-screw connects to any white Neutral.

Option B) Pilot-light-switch is getting power from GFCI receptacle AND you want pilot light switch protected by GFCI.
a) Black wire on pilot-light dark screw connects to Load screw on GFCI
b) White wire on pilot-light silver connects to silver screw on GFCI that is opposite Load screw

Option C) same as option B except pilot-light-switch is NOT protected by GFCI.
a) Black wire on pilot-light dark screw connects to Line screw on GFCI or any Hot wire
b) White wire on pilot-light silver connects to silver screw on GFCI that is opposite Load screw or to any Neutral wire

This is what I think is going on.
Pull the bathroom light and verify that there is only one wire going to it. I'm betting that it only has one 3cond and that it's the second one in your j-box.
Connect the 3cond from the circuit breaker to the GFI.
Pull a single black wire from the GFI over to the switch. The black in the 3cond to the light goes on the other side of the switch. White from the light goes to white on the GFI.
What the electrician did is power the light from the receptacle box.
I'd like to know if this corrects the problem and everything works.

Why does my pilot llight extinquish on my calor heater

The pilot light flame impinges a thermocouple that produces a small current that energizes the main gas control valve inlet. If the pilot goes out once lit, it could be several causes.
1. The mixing valve the pilot used could be dirty and not getting the proper mixture of air to gas and will produce an low flame, not hot enough to energize the thermalcouple. Generally if you open the mixture chamber and blow out the cobb webs will clean the chamber. while your cleaning the mixing chamber, clean any soot off the pilot flame orifice. Try relighting and holding the knob 15 seconds to allow the themalcouple to energize and hold the main gas valve open.
2. The next repair will probably need to be performed by a trained technician. Replace the themalcouple can be delicate and you can cause damage to the main gas valve by overtorquing the connection where it screws onto the body of the gas valve. The outer cover of the thermalcouple is part of an electrical circuit and the interior of the copper line is the other conductor of the circuit. The two conductors have to come in contact with the associated contacts in the gas valve and not cause harm to them. Again do not over torque.

run a jumper wire from brass load on gfi to top screw on switch then the black wire from light to the other screw on switch, white wire from vanity light should be connected to silver load screw on gfi WILL NOT WORK IF NOT GROUNDED PROPERLY if your ground is connected to common (white) in your breaker box this could cause issues also. a sure ground is the plumbing in your house. if you have copper lines you can use a saddle connector to ground the gfi, if these options are not available contact an electrician in your area.

QO115GFI breaker trips when I switch on the breaker next to it.

I happen to have one of these in the box, so I've reviewed the installation & on-line literature for this model. Let's address installation notes:
Don't connect more than 250 ft of load conductor for the total one-way run, to prevent nuisance tripping.
The breaker is to be used on grounded power supply circuits only. We're talking a properly-grounded breaker box, not just the protected circuit.
Look at the side of the breaker. You will notice that the curly white wire is meant to be connected to the (properly grounded) neutral bar in your panel.
The circuit neutral that you're protecting should be landed on the terminal just above that curly wire. Make sure you have the right neutral!
The circuit's hot wire would of course be landed on the topmost screw.
You did not state what you mean by "the breaker next to it": just above, just below, or directly across from the GFI breaker?
I suspect that you meant just above or below the GFI breaker. And I assume you've swapped out other breakers to rule out a defective breaker.
Now, it is possible that you have a "shared neutral" situation. It's a common wiring practice to use one neutral wire for two "hots", where one circuit is fed from the phase A side and the other is fed from the phase B side, (which you'll have in a two-pole, 220V breaker), picking up a 110 volts from each phase. The two 110v "Hots" share a single neutral wire between them to carry return current. The phase shift between the two phases allows this.
However, to avoid nuisance tripping of your GFI, your protected circuit cannot share neutrals with another circuit, as the "other" circuit's operation will cause the 6 milliamp differential between current out (hot) and current return (neutral) which the GFI by design senses and trips.
Your GFI-protected circuit probably needs its own dedicated neutral!

I hooked up a 20amp circuit breaker to a 15amp recp. then to a 20amp gfci but my outlet tester reads open nutral. what's wrong?

You've lost a neutral connection at: one of the terminals somewhere; inside the outlet; broken strap between the neutral pads on the standard outlet; or the tester is providing an erroneous indication.

Does it read OK on the BOTH receptacles of the first outlet? Check the terminals that provide output on the first outlet and the LINE terminals of the GFCI . Bad at the first outlet? Check the input on the first outlet. Bad? Check splices between outlet and service panel and neutral connection at neutral bus bar inside panel. OK? Check the input to the GFCI - make sure on LINE terminals and proper polarity is observed.

Double check the line and load terminal screws of the GFCI outlet. Make sure that the power coming into the GFCI is connected to the LINE terminals. Be sure to connect the HOT and NEUTRAL wires to the proper LINE terminals. Neutral conductor (white) connects to the silver colored screws and hot (black or red) connects to the gold colored LINE screws. If you are sending power out to supply additional loads that are to be GFCI protected, the rules above apply - but connect to the LOAD screws.

easy one first: ground wire to green screw. We have to assume the two black wires are the hot(coming from power source) and switch leg(going to light). Switch will have two brass colored screws. Looking at the switch with the off/on markings right side up. Put hot wire on upper screw and switch leg on other brass screw, With nothing hooked up, the hot wire will be the only wire with voltage on it. You can buy a non-contact voltage tester at Lowes or any place that sells electrical supplies. Now we must assume the two white wires are neutrals(one coming from power source and one going to light. The pilot light part of the switch will either have a silver colored screw or a white pigtail on it. all whites hook together. The pilot light is wired internally to the switch leg. Your switch should work properly now.

I have a square levition light switch for lamps. what wire do i hook it up to? the black wire or the white?

All new 2 wire cords with an attached plug should be polarized, meaning that one of the prongs is larger than the other, thus preventing you from plugging it into the receptacle improperly. If you look at the male prongs on the plug, the larger spade is the neutral and the smaller spade is the "hot" side. You have to find out which is the "hot conductor" on the cord. The cord is identified with a tracer (either ribbed or legibly mark on one side of one of the conductors . Follow the identifier up to where you want the switch. Cut only the hot conductor leaving the neutral conductor untouched. (DO NOT CUT BOTH CONDUCTORS). You may have to trim the hot conductor back a little to fit into the molded channel of the switch. reassemble the switch. the unit is equipped with insulation displacement blades that will puncture the insulation thus making contact with the conductors.

First thing that needs to be done, is to find out which pair of wires go where. Since you had these lights working (somehow), Switch off the breaker or unscrew the fuse that operates these lights. Once the lights are off you can now disconnect all the wires from that switch. Keep all wires separated, and away from ground. You mentioned that you have a equipment ground (green or bare wire). Hopefully this goes back to the panel. With a continuity tester or VOM (make sure it is in OHMS), place one lead on this ground and the other lead on any white wire. if it reads almost zero ohms, then this wire is a neutral wire. If not, it either indicates that you have 2 hots and 2 switchlegs, or you may not have continuity back to the panel on the ground wire. Another approach would be to make sure no one but yourself is in the area. After removing the wires from the switch and isolating them, again making sure no one is in that area, turn the power back on and place the VOM on voltage (Make sure the leads are in the proper locations on the meter) Place one lead on ground and with the other lead touch the individual conductors. The one(s) that reads 120 volt are hot. To make sure you have the proper conductors, unscrew both bulbs, to make sure you are not getting feedback.if you have 2 hots then the mating pair in the able goes to the light fixture. you would need to remove the fin because the fin is for a 3 wire application.

Make sure you turn off the power at the power panel.
If you are lucky you will find the following in the electrical box behind the light:
  1. A black wire that brings power from the fuse/breaker panel--connected directly to one or two other (black) wires (not to the light).
  2. A white wire from the panel--connected to one or more white wires including one to the light.
  3. A black or white (maybe taped black) wire that comes from the switch and is connected to the light.
  4. A green or bare wire connected to the box and maybe also to the light.
If this is the case then you can run a new cable to a new electrical box in the wall for the GFI. Connect the new black wire to the Line In terminal/black wire of the GFI outlet and to the group of black wires in (1) above. Connect the new white wire to the Neutral terminal/white wire of the GFI outlet and to the group of white wires in (2) above. Connect the new green/bare wire to the Ground terminal/green wire of the GFI outlet and to the original box or ground wire. If there is a Load/Feed through wire on the GFI outlet, tape the end of it and do not use.
If the black and white wires described in (1) and (2) above do not appear in the electrical box at the light then they are probably in the switch box and there will be only one black wire and one white wire that connect to the light on the wall. In that case you will need to run a new cable from the switch box to the new outlet. You will not be able to wire the new outlet from the existing electrical box at the light unless you do it through the switch and it will not be on unless the switch is on.

Trips GFI circuit brakers

First of all, lets clarify what is going on. You say it trips the GFI breaker, so I'm assuming that it is not a GFCI receptacle that you are plugging into. So you are going to the electrical panel and resetting the GFCI breaker.  If it were a GFCI receptacle, have you tried other loads in this receptacle for 30-40 seconds, ie: Toaster, hairdryer, coffee pot? If everything works fine then there is something wrong with the ESP8XL. It would seem that there is a leakage path to ground from one of the conductors. If it is new, bring it back.
