Did you push the reset black rubber button on the back of the machine. When mine overheats. I have to reset it. It overheats if you have a lot of lint built up in it

I had the same problem. Turns out the reset button on the back of the dryer needs to be pushed; when you push the reset button you should hear a click. If you do not hear a click the problem was probably not the reset button. The button shuts down the dryer heating elements if they are getting too hot and also keeps the drum from turning unless the start button is held down.

If you push the reset button and the dryer starts to work again, I strongly recommend that you stop the dryer and investigate why the heater elements overheated. In my case there was lint/hair build up on the heater elements themselves. Extensive dryer disassembly is required to properly clean the heating elements but it is worth the prevention of a house fire. While you're at it, clean the rest of the machine and the duct work.

Hope this helps

Does anyone know there is so much lint accumulation in these Fisher & Paykel dryers? I have used many dryers in the past none of which are so "dirty"

How do you disassemble the dryer, to get to the heating element? I've done it once, a long time ago. I went through the back. I needed help getting it back together, and the repairman said it's usually done from the front, to access the heating element. So, I've started doing that, this time, but, I'm a bit stuck on, having gotten everything off the front, how to get the drum, which has the fan housing attached to it, and, appears to be connected to back still, out. Suggestions?

Just looked at it, had forgotten, I had removed the screws from back, that seemed to be holding all the middle (heating element, drum) parts to the back (I also had removed plastic fan housing). It appears they were holding it to the back, but, I still can't pull the drum out far enough out to get good access to the heating element. Though, I can now tell that IS the problem, as I've been able to pull several clumps of lint/hair, a few burned, from the area. Ideas how to get drum detached from heating element? Ideally, I'd like to pull drum entirely, so I can vacuum everything well.

I have a horrible feeling, it's going to have something to do with the center bolt... I seem to remember something, about having to use a rubber mallet, as part of getting it loose...

T700 asko dryer runs if you hold the start button but cuts off when you let the button go, any suggestions?

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description I`d direct you to first check the hi-temp cut out at the back...if you haven`t already.

It will look like this on the Asko dryers...

7995fe6.jpg

If you push this to reset and the unit works, great. I would keep an eye on it though since the hi-limit typically trips for a reason such as a plugged lint filter, plugged vent ot partially plugged or the heater itself is plugged up with lint.

Take the lint filter and clean it under some warm water and soap as they do become plugged with wax over time due to fabric softener and static sheets...when present/used regularly

If it doesn`t run after-wards or it`s not tripped, you`ll need to investigate for a faulty heater element. This is quite involved, so we`ll cross that bridge when you get there...if necessary.

Keep me posted on your progress or what you find and I'll help in whatever manner I can. Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

ASKO t700 dryer thumping sound

usually whin you get one thump (or a quick double thump) you have a dent in the roller surface of the drum itself. Easiest way to check this is to unplug the unit and take the top off by removing the 3 torx screws in the rear, then lifting the top off. Once the top is off look at the very front edge of the drum as you rotate the whole thing by hand. If you see any irregularities on the surface, thats your problem. If you see nothing it could be a bad motor or roller, but its unlikely if its happening in the same place on the rotation evry time. What has usually happened with dents in the surface of the drum is that the unit was set down too hard (or dropped) and the wheels it rests on dented the metal they ride on. If thats the case the only solution is to replace the drum or live with it .Good Luck!
