If that doesn't work, wait for few more hours. Some network operators offer(Actually, nowadays many) instant connection while some network providers still take 8-15 hours or even more to register a new connection into their network.
If the problem exists for days, go to a service outlet of your network operator.
The position of the SIM card holder depends on your phone model. It might be placed under the battery or on the side of the phone. Before inserting/removing your SIM card, turn off your phone and make sure no charger is connected to the phone. Insert your SIM card according to the illustration that you find close to the SIM card holder. Note: Without a SIM card, you can't make or receive calls. In some countries you can make emergency calls without a SIM card.
Clean the connectors on the SIM card with a soft brush, cloth or q-tip moistened with any type of unflavoured, colourless alcohol.
Check whether the card is damaged or worn in any way.
If your SIM card is damaged or does not work properly after cleaning, please contact your operator to obtain a new SIM card.
