For the THIRD time, one of our (2) Grohe Freehanders arm is not able to move. The first two ended up broken and needing replacement (we had tried to loosen and/or tighten the allen screw behind the arm to no avail). Now, the same problem has happened again (on the 2nd fixture). Is this a standard problem from putting water through a moving part? Is there any fix? We don't want to touch the thing because we don't want to break it, but we can't move it either up or down!

SOURCE: i have agrohe shower fixture with poor pressure

If the shower head is clogged (even if it it is not I would still do this)
remove the head and soak in coke (yes, it works), CLR, vinegar or bleach and see if you can dissolve the debris. If that is not the culprit, check to see if there is access to a shut-off valve behind or below the shower. It will be inside of the wall and is only acessable through a hole in the wall.

If that is not the case, it is now time to consider replacing the shower body. This is an involved job but something very doable by a competent homeowner.

Hope this helped.

SOURCE: leak where Grohe shower head attached to the threaded pipe

using a pair of vice grips wrapped in a soft towel( to prevent scractching) turn the shower head in a counter clockwise direction to remove it then apply liquid teflon (real-tuf) to the threads on the shower arm and tighten the shower head but dont over tighten it liquid teflon is more effective at sealing leaks than teflon tape and it can be wiped clean

1997hondacivic just shut off when driving now only turns over but does not start

I would unscrew oil fill cap, and spin over to see if rocker arms are moving. There are 2 engines, interference, and non-interference.If rocker arms arent moving the timing belt is broken.I would recommend finding out which style engine it is,hope fully non-interference which means if timing belt breaks, the pistons doesn't bend the valves.I kinda went off the deep end,you should try starting fluid to eliminate fuel problem, and check for spark, but those are some dependable cars and usually only tear up if timing belt breaks.Notice too if engine sounds different than normal when spinning over.

Wiper arm is loose/broken. As the drivers side wiper moves, it stops working at times.

at the end of the wiper arm there is a little cap. Pry it up with a screw driver and see if the nut is loose. Some times you can just tighten it and it will work again but the splines might be striped and need to replace the arm. Check and let me know.

Replace the rear wiper arm shaft

There is a plastic cover that pops off at the pivot end of the wiper arm. pulling up on this with a hook of some kind from the furthest end should release it. Under it you will find a nut that holds the wiper arm to the shaft. It's quite common for the nut to come loose and the shaft spins without moving the arm. Try tightening this nut (with the ignition on, be sure the wiper motor is off, then turn off ignition and put the wiper arm in the parked position). This is a common problem if you've ever tried to turn on the wiper when it was frozen to the glass.

Leak where Grohe shower head attached to the threaded pipe

Hello, Many shower heads have similar problems. (Very frustrating as you now know) The problem is the threads at the end of the (cheap plastic) shower neck are not flat. They are tapered (has an edge) - so it does not seat flush with the base of the shower head. Actually cuts around the rubber washer causing a leak.

What to do about it?

File the end of the neck some to create a flat surface. However, go slow. Be sure you can still screw on the shower head. Add a flat rubber washer in the shower head and plumbers tape on neck threads too.

Or Purchase a new shower neck that has a better design. The neck should unscrew from the front. Check and make sure you have an access behind the shower just in case you need to access the plumbing.

I replace the shower neck myself if there is an access.
