My wife paired her Acura MDX to our garage door opener and now the garage opens when it wants to. It will open up during the day when nobody is home and it will open in the middle of the night. What can I do to stop this from happening. Now I'm unplugging it when she leaves the house.

Unpair it as there is another signal in your area on the same frequency. some frequencies can travel over a hundred meters or more. if you use a frequency monitor you will find there will be a lot of signals in your area. the original system will drown these out looking for its signal but pairing a device that has a different frequency or frequencies this can cause randone read. and will work on frequencies in this range can even be a freezer turning on etc. as every device make a signal.

SOURCE: garage door opens by itself

From Chamberlain's website:

There are a few different things that can cause this type of problem.

  1. Look at the LED light next to the SMART/LEARN button on the motor unit. If you are facing the garage door, the SMART/LEARN button is located on the rear end or right hand side panel of the motor unit. You may need to remove a light lens cover in order to see it. This button is either purple, red/orange, green, yellow, grey, or white in color. If the light is flashing rapidly this means you have a stuck button on one of your remote controls. Take the batteries out of each remote control. When you remove the batteries from the bad remote, the light will stop flashing. This remote needs to be replaced.
  2. If one of your neighbor's remote controls is inadvertently programmed into your receiver, your door will open when their remote is activated. If this happens you will need to clear out your receiver and reprogram your remote controls:
    1. Press and hold the LEARN button for six seconds, or until you see the small LED light near the button turn itself off.
    2. If the above steps have been followed and the symptoms continue, there may be an electronic short in either the wall control button or the receiver logic board. In this case, remove the wall control wires from terminals one and two (or red and white) on the motor unit. Should the symptoms persist after the wires are removed, replace the receiver logic board. If the symptoms stop with the wall control wires removed from the motor unit, replace the wall control button, and the wires leading to the wall control button.

SOURCE: Chamberlain door opener--Door opens but light will not come on

If you are getting a click the relay on the board sounds like it is working. Sometimes the contacts in the light socket gets burn spots on them. Try unplugging the unit, unscrewing the bulb and with a small scrapping tool (small flat screwdriver) scrap the bottom contact and the contact on the threads. Bend the contact on the threads a little too make better contact with the bulb. Screw the bulb the bulb in completely.  If this does not solve your problem the only the left to do is to replace the logic board.

Craftsman garage door opener. Why won't it pair with remotes?

If the remotes operate with no problem it's not the board. once you've paired the remote to your home link in the car, you have to go back and hit the learn button on the motor housing unit then go back and hit the home link button you just paired. Keep in mind when you hit the home link button, you should with a firm 3 second push. If that doesn't work it's one of two things. First is all three buttons may have been programmed on the visor not allowing you to reprogram. You would have to wipe out the programming by holding the first and last buttons simultaneously until the light flashes rapidly. Then start over. Secondly it could be the radio frequency. Depending upon the year of the vehicle you have and the opener you have there's a difference in the megahertz. I hope it's as easy as my first suggestion. GL!

We just installed a MyQ on our garage door, and the first time my wife used it (she tried it about 2 blocks away from home), it didn't open and she said she got a message that it wouldn&#3

Garage door openers can sometimes be triggered by (illegally) boosted CB or ham radios.
A passing vehicle pumping out high power might open the door (an acquaintance did this years ago annoying the neighborhood) and the 30 minute delay may serve to protect against unwanted opening of the door.

My 2001 acura mdx driver side door won't close

THE DOOR CATCH HAS A DOUBLE "C" THAT HOLDS THE DOOR CLOSED. FIRST TAKE A SCREWDRIVER INSIDE THE "C". USING THE HANDLE ON THE INSIDE, PULL THE HANDLE AS IF YOU WERE OPENING THE DOOR AND AT THE SAME TIME, OPEN THE DOUBLE "C" WITH THE SCREWDRIVER. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. Remote garage door opener

1-800-355-3515
www.homelink.com

1. Position vehicle within 10 feet of garage door- engine off and battery on.

2. Press/hold 2 outside buttons of Homelink transceiver until red indicator starts flashing rapidly, then release button. This should take about 20 seconds. This erases any previously learned codes.

3. Press/hold remote control and press/hold button of Homelink transceiver simultaneously. Slowly move remote control from 5" away to 1" away from Homelink transceiver. Release both buttons after red indicator starts blinking rapidly. This should take about 5 seconds. I discovered that the Homelink in my TL is a bit faulty because it took much longer to accomplish this than when programming the Homelink in my MDX. My TL's Homelink may "unlearn" it's code in the future and the needed proximity of the TL to the garage door may be much closer than desired until I get the Homelink fixed.

4. Press training button on garage door opener unit until the indicator lights illuminates- this should be immediate.

5. Within 30 seconds press/hold the Homelink button for 2-3 seconds until the red indicator starts flashing rapidly. Repeat a second time. It should now be programmed. Check it by pressing the programmed button on the Homelink receiver.

6. When programming more than 1 garage door opener unit, disconnect power from unit before programming more units. By not doing this the programmed unit could conflict with the unprogrammed units commands.

Problems:

1. The Battery in the garage door remote may be too weak to program Homelink. However, the battery may be strong enough to operate the garage door. One of my remote controls had a weak battery- my system was installed today, fresh out of the box. I had to use the second remote control for the programming of Homelink on my 2 vehicles.

2. Antenna on the garage door opener unit must be hanging down, fully extended.
