I'm running dual Princton Monitors. This morning in booting up my computer one screen stayed completely blank with the message"For best picture quality change resolution to 1280x1024. This monitor as of last night had been running at 800X600 with absolutely no problems for 7 years. When I changed the resolution to 1280X1024 and clicked OK the only thing that appeared on the monitor was highlighted in blue and said Auto Adjust. Can you help. I have been calling the 800 and 888 numbers since 5:30 this morning and desperately need my computer for business purposes.

Possible that the video card has packed it in and is not responding for duel monitors
you could always try going to control panel , display section and check the settings of both monitors and the drivers for both monitors
to check the problem monitor change the setting from main display from the good unit to make the other monitor the main display
it should change over and the first monitor will then go bad

SOURCE: Wont work with new computer

Since this was a new out of the box computer, Safe Mode was not allowed. In order to change monitor settings (resolution), I had to use another monitor, in this case a newer CRT. With the CRT, the computer booted up, no problem. Once booted, I turned down the monitor resolution and saved. Now when the Princeton LCD was plugged in and the computer restarted, everything works fine. Now the resolution could be set to limits of the monitor.

Replacing the 6 Caps fixed my monitor..

Before you start, pay close attention to the orientation of the connecting Cable between boards, it's NOT Keyed. Mine had White Bands on the connectors that faced the Chassis when the Board was mounted.

There seems to be different versions of Bords depending upon production dates.

Some of these Monitors do have:
(1) 470 uf @ 10V
(3) 470 uf @ 25V
(2) 1000 uf @10V

I replaced them with:
(4) Radio Shack 272-1030 470 uf @ 35V
(2) Radio Shack 272-1032 1000 uf @35V

$8.34 Saved an Expensive monitor.

I would prefer to use Higher Quality Caps, like the Panasonic Caps from Digikey, but this worked in a pinch. The higher Voltage should make the inverter board a little More Robust.

Good Luck

Message states mode not supported

If you are talking about dual screen mode, some monitors do not support this. And some do not support dual screen at the current resolution setting. Play with the resolution by right clicking an open area of your desktop, then click properties, and then advanced. There should be a slider indicating resolution (in xp at least) After that, then the monitor itself does not support dual screen. Best of Luck to you!

This is normal. Your monitor has a VGA hook in for regular definition. What it is doing, the monitor always by default looks for the VGA hook first. On my desktop it does the same thing until it finds a signal on the DVI.

Hp vs17 has white screen at boot. I have eliminated the chord from the tower and the tower works fine. I have audio, no video. Only a white blank screen. It does not blink or flicker. It just stays white....

There are three choices here...bad screen, bad connection, or bad video card, if the card is integrated onto the motherboard, then that part of the motherboard could be bad. If you have access to another monitor or a TV with a vga input, try the computer with another monitor. If you get a signal on that other monitor then you know you either had a bad connection with the other monitor or you lost the screen on the old one. Go back and reseat your video connections with the computer off. Don't ever remove or move cables to the monitor and video with the computer running...the screen can suffer permanent damage. If there is no signal on any monitor, then either you have a bad vga cord or your video graphics card had died.

Blank HP w1907

If the power light does not turn color and stay's green on startup, it is not a power problem. It is most likely the inverter. If the unit is in warranty, send it out ASAP. Contact HP customer care by email and have the issue logged in.
If in warranty, they will send you a box by FedX second day and have repaired.
This is a 19" monitor and will not be worth paying for repairs if not in warranty.
