Rethread the machine
check the top tension-try 3 or 4
change needle & make sure the needle is inserted correctly

some time the needle & thread don't work togeather--try this
Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

The upper thread keeps breaking whenever I sew even though it is always properly threaded and the needle is fine

check the age of the cotton
cotton is not a single thread but a series of fine threads bonded with a glue
old cotton glue breaks down and the thread separates easilty
next check that the needle is installed correctly with the grove ( thread groove away from the bobbin hook
check the needle and hook timing because if it is off a fraction , the hook will pierce the the thread causing it to break
next check that the eye is the correct size for the thread in use
a needle eye too small for the thread thickness will jam the thread ans not let slide through the eye properly

First Thread breaks on nelco 928 why?

Remove all the threads.
Replace the needle.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning.
Verify each thread is in the correct thread path.
ALWAYS THREAD each in the order specified or you will continue to have problems--for a lot of machines, the order is Upper Looper, Lower Looper, then needles.
Check the tension on that particular thread--too tight, it will break.

Breaking thread after about an inch usually indicates it is mis-threaded--a guide has been skipped or threaded out of order or the thread may be wrapped around something.

Why does the thread on my sewing machine keep breaking?

Several possibilities. It could be the needle, the tension too tight, mis-threading, the thread weight, brand, poor quality, or fabric incompatibility with needle & thread.

My thread keeps breaking, Ive checked and changed my needle, re-threaded bobbin and upper but every time I try to sew the upper thread breaks.

Have you tried loosening the upper tension? Remove the upper thread, RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning (make sure it follows the correct thread pathway). Sometimes the upper thread jumps out of a thread guide or wraps around something. Or try a different brand of thread? Avoid old or bargain bin threads--use good quality thread. Could also be the incorrect needle for the thread/fabric, ie thread too large for the needle eye.
