Digital camera switches on shows blank screen does nothing else but can view already shot pictures

This camera is plagued with problems. sony shold have recaled it immediatly. i have multiple problems with min and am on my 3rd
DSC-S40. they stopped making at just after they shipped it.

mine has screen problems flickering and scrambled images, and sometimes a solarized effect. now i have lens problems. some people have an internal battery fail. dig that! this camera has a button cell battery inside it that once it dies, your camera is screwed unless you "solder" a new one in. it does not slide or un click. you have to take it apart. just recently i get a blank screen, but i restart it and flip the mode select switch alot and usually it works again. i got some lens error. it started with an "E" but i forgot to record the exact number.
